Help content from web server appearing on GUI page
I was given a requirement for an upcoming product that the Help should be very short descriptions of GUI elements and that when a customer clicks (or possibly hovers over) an item in the GUI, that the Help content be displayed in an area in the same GUI page. I want to maintain the Help systems on o...

Re: WebHelp - pop-up message for Help readers
Well, the nice thing about a pop-up (as long as it has a check box to disable it) is that you can make it go away, but the pop-up blocker would probably come into play as you point out. Now, upgrade notices are sent by email. We were looking into additional ways of notifying customers and the idea o...

Re: WebHelp - pop-up message for Help readers
Right. We will do this in the GUI in the next major release. Until then, it was hoped that the Help--which I can update now--could get the word out at least to those who look at the Help. WebHelp - pop-up message for Help readers
My company wants to notify our customers whenever a new software upgrade becomes available. One idea was to put an upgrade notification in the Help system. Ideally, a small window would appear in front of the selected Help topic. The window would have a notice about the new software that is availabl...

Re: open WebHelp in a new window, not in a new tab
Thanks, Laura, Lisa, and Ramon. I'll make sure the right tag is being used. I'll also add a note in the Help explaining how to change the browser settings if the Help topics are opening in a new tab but you want to open them in a new window instead. I think that with the right code and a note, we'll...

open WebHelp in a new window, not in a new tab
When clicking the Help link in our product's GUI, the Help now opens in a new tab instead of a new (separate, detached) window. Naturally, this makes it impossible to view the Help while also looking at the GUI. With tabs, you can only view one at a time. For normal web use, this is good, but not fo...
