Re: Add a scroll bar to a top nav side menu?
Perfect. I knew there had to be a way to add auto, but wasn't sure how to do it. Thanks!

Add a scroll bar to a top nav side menu?
Hi, We want to use two side menus in some of our pages. We are usng top navigation. The idea on these pages is to give users two ways to access topics on services in our catalog. I created a master page with two menu proxies and two TOCs, one an alphabetical list of services and one a category list ...

Re: Build failed: Object reference not set...
Sangu--Your solution was perfect and helped me isolate the problem file quickly. In my case, the file that was causing a problem was a snippet which I had edited with track changes on. I am outputting the PDF preserving track changes. I simply accepted the track changes, saved the snippet, and had n...

Re: Flare HTML5 with SharePoint 2013?
I'm getting a 404 Error with Top Nav Output in SharePoint 2007. Here's what I did: I placed the output from the default top nav basic project created with Flare 11 in a SharePoint 2007 folder. When I click on default.htm, the home page displays with no problems. However, when I click on any of the l...

Re: Cell Content Style in TableStyle Editor
Thanks, emsachs, that helped. What I had to do was set the table style to create all cells as <p> by setting cell content to <p> on the rows. Then I was able to get column 1 to set as p.StepNum using the Column 1 cell content style control. Of course, this put p.StepNum on the first cell in the head...

Why does the Skin Properties page have Conditional Text?
Hi,
I may be over-thinking things, but I can't figure out why the Properties page for a skin (HTML5) has a Conditional Text tab. The only way I can think to use this is to import the skin from a global or other project.
What are other uses for it? What am I missing?
Thanks,
Andi

Re: Link Viewer Associated Targets
Thanks, Dave Lee. I read that online help page, but it seems to be written with the assumption that you are looking at links for a topic file. However, you can use Link Viewer on style sheets, too. When I view links for a style sheet , I see a whole list of targets in the Targets panel, but no targe...

Link Viewer Associated Targets
I love the Link Viewer, but am wondering what the Associated Targets panel is telling me when I use the Link Viewer on a style sheet. I have a style sheet that is not being used, so the Linked From: and Linked To: panels are blank when I select the style sheet and right click and select View Links. ...

Cell Content Style in TableStyle Editor
Hi, I am trying to use the TableStyle Editor to create a table in which the first column body rows contain autonumbered paragraphs. I created a class of <p> with autonumbering on (mc-auto-number-format {n+}.) in the main CSS. Then in the TableStyle Editor on the Columns tab for Column1, I used the C...

Re: System.ArgumentException Every Time I Save .fltrev
MadCap Tech Support confirmed this is a bug. Here is the workaround suggested. I have not tried the workaround since dismissing the error message and resaving works. As a workaround, if the review package is going to be edited in the initial project, I would suggest either accepting the topic, and t...

System.ArgumentException Every Time I Save .fltrev
Hi, My project is bound to Subversion. I am working through a review package in Flare 11. All of the .htm files that I sent to review are committed with no locks on. Here is what I'm doing: 1. I saved the review package to the Inbox of the project. 2. From the Inbox I open a .fltrev file. 3. I use t...

Outputting the Results of Find in Files
Hi, We are trying to create a report that shows the files and context in which we use a particular phrase or word in our topic files. We need to have SMEs review the report, instance by instance. I have been trying to figure out how to do this. 1. Is there a way to output the results of Find in Rile...

Resizing the browser misaligns drop-down image
I'm having a problem with the vertical alignment of the drop-down image when the browser is resized. I'm looking for the CSS elements to correct this. When the browser is maximized, the drop-down image is aligned with the hotspot text, as shown in the image below. CorrectlyAlignedDropDownImage.png H...

Re: Knowledge Base Topic Templates
Hi, I am working in Flare 9 with HTML5 output and getting these same errors. I am not sure the error is from the template or from snippets that I created and then inserted into topics created from the template. Strangely enough, the output seems to be fine. Here is what I did. Is there a way to stop...

Re: Snippet within a Snippet and other single sourcing questions
1. Can you embed a snippet within a snippet? Yep, just did a simple test and it works. I tried it, too, but I was hoping that I would be able to convert the embedded snippet to text without converting the higher-level snippet to text. Is it possible to convert an embedded snippet to text? If so, how?

Snippets with Editable Regions?
I know the purpose of snippets is to reuse content that is identical in multiple topics. But what if the content is almost identical, but needs very slight modification in each location that it is used. Is there any way to use a snippet but have an area of it that remains editable without converting...

Hi, I have a long topic with h2 headings followed by tables. I wanted to "scrunch" up the tables using expanding or drop-down text so the user will see only the heading and the "thingamajig" to click on. If they click the "thingamajig", the table will display. I used Ex...

Re: Embedded User Assistance
I've been learning more about this than I ever expected to need to know! For the new project, the developers won't be using resource files. Instead, all page assets (buttons, fields, persistent field label text, pop-up user assistance, links to HTML files, etc.) are going to be in a database. If the...
