Is it possible to rename a movie (a <file_name>.wmv file)? I see that there is a .png file that goes with it, so I tried naming the movie and the png with the same name, but there doesn't seem to be any way to tell Mimic about it.
I would like to be able to do this because I'm combining some short ...

Re: Capturing a movie from software on another server
Thanks, Ramon. This seems to be my best option right now. When I have more time, I'll see if I can trouble should the database conflict.

Ramon,
Thanks for the suggestions.
In order to install Mimic on the server, do I have to uninstall it from my local drive?
Thanks,

Capturing a movie from software on another server
I am trying to create a movie of a piece of software that is running on another server. I cannot install this software on my local drive because it uses the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database that doesn't play nice with the database that Flare uses.

Well, that's pretty straightforward. I must have done it; maybe as requested by a MadCap technical support person.
Thank you,

backup files under user directory.
I have discovered some files under <project>/Project/Users/<user>/backups/ called <file_name>.htm.##########.htm ; example: Accumulator Operations.htm.1155443035.htm. I opened one to verify that they are copies of topic files.

Re: Displaying heading level variable across "chapters"
Thank you for getting back to me on this. I did read about the two kinds of headers. According to Flare documentation, Running Head variables can be used for Word and Framemaker only. Since my output is a PDF, this kind of variable won't help me.

Yes, I agree with you, Nita; it's only half there. We'll have to continue using band-aids. I'm really disappointed.
I also will submit a request for an enhancement.

Thank you, Lisa. I should have thought of that; I had to create a generic class for another problem.

Page break before for heading class
I have a project where some of the second-level headings (for functions) must have a page break before in printed output. The PDF target is set up to use to use TOC depth for heading levels and the topics all use <h1> for their titles, including the function topics.

Re: Removing Inherited Styles, Part 2
Thank you, Lisa. You're right; I was in the print medium.
But I have a question on your last comment. You say that the stylesheet is more like a reference guide, and a given style is not necessarily in the file. If it isn't in the file, where is it?
Thanks,
Mardi

I have some unused styles in my stylesheet that I'd like to get rid of. When I try to delete them, I receive the message "The style <style_name> cannot be removed because it is inherited and not defined in this stylesheet."

If I modify heading attrib all others are set to that value
I am trying to change the margin-left attribute to zero for H1 and H2, .25in for H3 and H4 and .5in for H5 and H6. When I modify the value for one of the heading tags, all the other automatically change to that value. What did I forget to do?
Thanks,
Mardi

Index heading should be in 1 column, index body in 2
I am trying to format an index so that it has two columns, but when I do, the title (H1) is in a column as well; it should straddle both columns. I double-clicked the Index proxy on the index page and selected 2 columns. I created a separate page layout with two columns.

At first it didn't seem to work, but I realized that the offending line was on the second level, so I changed that class also.

Re: Chapter number runs into chapter text in TOC (PDF)
Thanks for the idea... but since the chapter heading is right-aligned, if I put a space before the before the break (the first and second lines of the chapter heading are separated by a break rather than a hard return), "Chapter" and the number would no longer be aligned properly, so that is not an ...
