Re: Can't edit startup topic in F4

Did you do the copy in v4 or an earlier version of Flare?
I'm very lazy so I had copied the entire project from a previous V3 project to get started. Since then though, everything has been edited and saved using v4. That's a good point and may have affected what happened.

Re: Can't edit startup topic in F4

I'm not clear what the problem is - in print output formats, the startup topic is irrelevant. The order of topics in print formats is determined by the TOC, with the first topic in the TOC being the one that appears first in the output.

That's what I thought too. However, since I had created my ...

Re: Can't edit startup topic in F4

I usually figure out what's going on RIGHT AFTER I post a forum question.

My output is FrameMaker, which disables the startup topic settings. Problem is, the startup topic field still had a value in it from when my output was Webhelp. I had to change the output to Webhelp, change the startup topic ...

Can't edit startup topic in F4

I have a project in Flare4. When I open my target settings I am unable to change my startup topic. I can't type in the field and the browse button is grayed out. What's going on?

Re: Flare as an instructional delivery platform?

...are you 1) using Flare to generate training materials, or are you 2) actually sitting students down in front of a copy of Flare to walk them through the course content?

Well, I'm never sitting them down in front of Flare itself. I am generating training materials -- printed guides and learning ...

Re: Flare as an instructional delivery platform?

Gosh, I haven't been in here for awhile and look what I missed!

YES! Flare can be used as a "training" tool. I'm using Flare now to develop two Webhelp learning environments: one that can be used by our trainers during live training to demonstrate concepts and a self-paced learning environment that ...

Text margin problem when navigation pane on the right.

Can I set padding or margins for inside the topic pane? The skin I'm using has the navigation pane on the right. For some reason, the topic text wants to bump into and even run under the navigation pane.

FM output contains mystery character styles

We are trying to understand why the process of outputing our Flare to FM generates new, mysterious character styles in the Frame doc. The most puzzling instance has to do with conditional text at the sentence level.

Here's the scenario:

In one topic (A), we have a PrintOnly condition on a single ...
