Issues Importing from ANother Flare Project
Hi, I'm currently trying to create a new project in Flare V10 from an existing project that was last compiled in Flare V9.1 I'm using the Import Project Wizard, and when I have set the conditional flags, the list of files to import is still including topics that I have said to exclude. Can someone p...

Re: format changes do not reflect in web output
Hi,
Have you tried deleting the previously created output files before compiling the latest one?
This is done from the 'Build' menu by selecting 'Clean Project'.
Once this has been run, rebuild the project and the changes should be seen.
Regards
Adrian

Re: MadCap Flare and Windows 7
Hi,
I've not tried Flare on 64bit Win7, but do run Flare 6 on 32bit Win7 with no problems at all, and also ran Flare 5 on the same system prior to Flare 6 being released.
hth.

Re: Analyzer....so....slow.....
I hae to echo Dave's comments, my project has 768 topics, and after it has fnished scanning the statistics pape is populated quickly but the summary still takes a couple of minutes to appear. I'm running on a fairly high spec pc, (3GB Ram, dual cpu etc) and this project was created from scratch in F...

Re: Specify different masterpage for popup
Hi Kittim, Have you set a default masterpage against your primary target? If so, I believe that this will over-ride any other masterpages that are set elsewhere. This is found in: Project Organiser - Targets - Basic screen, and also under the 'Advanced' section'. If these are left to default, then d...

Re: basic issue saving building and publishing.
Hi, One thing to try is to specify your output folder to be a totally separate folder on your PC, E.g. C:\FlareOutput As long as this is specified in your target, theroutput should always be put into this folder, and you can always delete the contents in order ot ensure that the latest changes are o...

Re: Flare for training materials
Hi Paul, I believe that X-Edit will allow your Trainers to create topics that can be integrated into your Flare project (depending on the version). On reading the sales documentation X-Edit Contribute allows users to create topics using pre-defined templates, and the full licensed X-Edit allows the ...

Custom Button in Mimic
Hi All, I'm currently running Mimic V3, and have added a custom button (from the button mode option) with the text of 'Pause' and the Action of 'Pause'. Does anyone know if there is a way of changing the text of the button from 'Pause' to 'Play', or 'Resume', if the button has been pressed so the us...

Re: Possible false positive on latest dat files from McAfee
Hi Helen, I know this isn't going to help much, but I also run McAfee and I've just installed V5.01. I've now opened Flare and loaded my project and so far I've not had any pop-ups reporting a virus. Can you let me know exactly when this message was encountered, so I can try to duplicate the steps y...

Re: Ignore crash and keep working!
I encountered a similar problem with Flare V5 after the latest microsoft updates. As these also affected other functions I had to carry out a system restore, then when trying to run Flare got the same error returned. I actually resolved this be re-installing the latest .Net (in my case 3.5SP1 but fo...

Re: Image Map - popup
Hi, One possible solution may be: Put the required text into the 'Screen Tip' field on the image map box. Set the 'Link To' to be 'Place in this Document' . In the right hand pane select 'top of document'. This removes the need for external links, and if the user accidentally clicks, then the top of...

Re: Flare V4 Analyser
Dave, We are not arguing about the reports it's just the timing of when Analyzer carries out scans. It's just that it insists on carrying out a scan every time that you update a condition, or delete topics, or rename topics. All that is wanted is the option to stop the scan running automatically, an...

Our clients access the application via a web browser, and a lot of the companies are SME's so we cannot force upgrades on them.
As a result, we have clients running most flavours of windows (from WIn2000 upwards), but we do stipulate IE6 as a minimum requirement.

Problems with PDF Output
Hi All, I've been using webhelp for a while, and thought I'd better start on the PDF version of the documentation. Now the problem I've got is that in my test project, the pdf used to create no problem, and looked ok (alright, I've a lot of tidying up to do but that's to be expected :( ). BUT.... I'...

Re: Replace the Madcap graphic in WebHelp?
Hi,
Another option would be to set the logo to 'Not Set', then to add an image to the Masterpage. This then allows an image map to be created for the image which can then be set to link to the topic you require.
At least that's how I achieved it .

Re: Using Image Map to simulate Tabs on a screen
Hi, I've used a similar process, and in the image map I added a region for each tab on the screen image. Clicking on the "tab" in the image jumps to the help page containing the tab, and displays the relevant information. It does work very well, and impressed our sales / marketing team, so...

RamonS,
Just to confuse the issue for you.....
I am actually left handed, and operate the mouse with my left hand, but leave the buttons configured to their default settings (i.e. for a Right Handed operator).
Oh well, back to work......

Re: Denying user access to the WebHelp files in Windows Explorer
Hi, One thing I have done (and I found out about it on these forums sometime way back when), was to include a js file that disables the RHM click, and displays a message box stating that the RHM is disabled. This should prevent the users from being able to view the source files. The script was title...

Internal Error when building V5 Project
Hi All, I've just compiled my Webhelp project in V5, and at the end of the build this returned an error as follows: Internal Error: C:\Flare\Apptitle\Output\Title\Data\SkinApp\Book.png This then stopped the build right at the end. I checked the folder concerned and the file Book.png does not exist i...

Re: Flare v5 Release Notes
Ryan, With the Thumbnails, is it possible to specify the position within the topic where the top and left borders of the image should be? I have a lot of images, and love the idea of the thumbnails, but when testing this, when the full size image is displayed it obscures the other text in the topic,...

Re: deleting index entries
Hi, Not difficult, just a looooonnnnng, tedious, boring job  Although, I must admit that I kept it simple when recreating the index, each topic only has two entrieas (and I deliberately did not include all of the pop-ups etc as that would at least double the size of the index). One thing to tr...
