Re: PDFs added to Online Help Content not able to be opened
Thanks! :D The embed tag worked and once compiled in our Online Help, the file opens as a PDF ... HOWEVER, :D the file opens wide enough, but it seems that the length of it could be longer ... the PDF is wide to fill the frame but not "long" enough ... could this be a function of the measurements ...

Re: Need a report to see date and time of file revision
Thanks anyway!
I appreciate the strategy and knowing it can't be done.

Re: Need a report to see date and time of file revision
Thanks Dave! This was fun actually. However, I ran the report from my C: drive, My Project and because I had just created a build, all the files listed had my user name attached? Where do you suppose should I run it to get other user info, if possible?

Need a report to see date and time of file revision
Does anyone have a report or method for determining when topic files are revised that includes user, date (and maybe time)?

Re: PDFs added to Online Help Content not able to be opened
... follow-up "I wonder" question ... I've just attempted to open in Flare/Content Explorer/Resources/Docs, the new Docs folder where I added the PDF into. I cannot open it. I placed the file in my local Content/Resources/Docs folder. Is the reason I cannot open it within Flare because I haven't ...

Re: PDFs added to Online Help Content not able to be opened
Lisa, the workaround is interesting. I've added the folder as suggested. I've added the container file topic, which is the name of the PDF to my files, however it doesn't show in the File List. I'm thinking because it is not .htm file? I do see it in Content Explorer.

PDFs added to Online Help Content not able to be opened
Four PDFs were added to Flare for Online Help reference by users. Once the build is complete, the PDFs are not openable. There is some talk about Mark of the Web being selected so users do not have to click off the security message for each HTML file opened in help if this selection is chosen. Can ...

Unable to print a list of all topics
I'm disappointed to find I'm unable to print an entire list of all topics ... even with the special reporting add-on. The closest choice is to print all topics with images. I would like a list of all topics and don't care whether they have images or not?

Re: Icon Graphics update for 700 topics takes 168 hours plus
Perhaps, but what would be great is to have multiple select to move items into Content Management. Otherwise this too is a time-intensive, one-by-one manual process. Hence the 186 hours.

Re: Icon Graphics update for 700 topics takes 168 hours plus
Hmmm. Our flprj (containing some six folders) had most icon images (some duplicated) not in Resources/Images. Again, we were new with the product and weren't trained to place iamges into Resources/Images. One of the folders is identified for the GUI update with new icon graphics. The others will ...

Re: Icon Graphics update for 700 topics takes 168 hours plus
Our software is undergoing a major GUI update and will incorporate over 60 new icons. Our FLARE guru writer had to write scripts (18 hours) to automate the (Find and Replace) process and point graphics to a new folder. Finding and Replacing multiple occurrences of changed icon is a time intensive ...

Icon Graphics update for 700 topics takes 168 hours plus
It's taking one writer 18 hours to write scripts to update icon graphics for one project (only 700 topics) and another writer 168 hours to go into each topic and do "clean-up" ... plus other writers cannot be working in the project while the clean-up takes place because of the danger of links that ...

Re: Unstructured Frame compiled WebHelp ... can we get a listing
Ahhhh but the garden of Flare is beautiful ... so many flowers to pick, so little time!
And yes, specifically what I want to do is create a list of all topics with our h1 heading to create an inventory of topics within the project. The output can be a PDF or screen output that I could print.

OK ... I've created a new topic "Listing"
Insert > Proxy > Insert TOC Proxy
Added h1 as the heading.
Could you please spoon-feed me as to what I should do next?

Unstructured Frame compiled WebHelp ... can we get a listing

Creating CD output for Flare Project
For some training use, the question arises as to whether online help can be created in a CD format ... supposedly for offline listening/learning. Since Online Help is designed as a string of topics, I don't see the purpose of this exercise but I thought I would explore if this option is available?

Re: "what's changed" in a Flare project
We create a new topic called "What's New in Version xx.xx" and list all the new features/enhancements/changes what have you here. Then we link the new features back to topics for the more fuller explanation. The "What's New topic" can be printed and sent to a "boss" for review, or you ...

Kevin, any suggestions as to why this would be happening? I've tried moving the project from a network back to my C drive and rebooting after each instance. My productivity is compromised.

FLARE freezes for no apparent reason?
I use a dual monitor when work in FLARE. If I pull up Outlook to answer email, or move over and work on my other monitor, FLARE freezes and I have to use Task Manager to kill it. Sometimes when I close an email, the blank shadow of the screen persists on my FLARE screen, even though the other ...

Re: Identify new topics added to project to remove/edit as neede
Thanks again Lisa! The online part of applying a Bookmark would work for us since we are using it merely as a tool to identify new content added and use a Target's TOC. Not sure of what you mean by adjusting the topic-level conditional tag and the topic-level conditional tag overriding whatever ...
