Accessibility errors

Greetings everyone. A project I am working on has suddenly started throwing a shed-load of "20036 Accessibility: Table has no header elements...", "20037 Accessibility: Table element does not contain a caption..." and "20040 Accessibility: Area element does not contain alt t...

Always visible note

Hi.
I want to add a note to a help topic such that the note will remain visible at the top of the reader's screen while the reader scrolls through the topic. Does anyone know a simple way of achieving this?
Thanks

Error! Bookmark not defined

Hi I updated an existing documentation set, and when I built the Word output, for "no apparent reason" a number of cross-references suddenly presented as Error! Bookmark not defined. These same x-references appear fine in HTMLHelp and WebHelp outputs. A small proportion of the x-refs in th...

New topics linked into TOC not found by Flare build setup

Since upgrading to 2017 r2, when I add new topics to my projects' TOCs they now appear in the TOCs as blue links rather than the "old style" normal text. My laptop installation has no problems with these links and builds HTML Help files without errors. However after I push the projects thr...

Related topics control

Hi all For most of my projects, when a reader clicks on a Related Topics link they get a dropdown list of the topics, they can click on a topic in the dropdown and the topic opens. However one of my projects has suddenly decided to present a Topics Found dialog, and the reader must select a topic an...

Re: Multiple Alias files in a project

Glad it helped you! :-) Though I ran out of time; I ended up creating a second project and copying the required files into it. I'll be attending all the "single sourcing" presentations at MadWorld next month, and I'll have a few questions :)

Re: Multiple Alias files in a project

I found the header file selector earlier. This resets itself to "all identifiers" every time it is closed and reopened, which doesn't help as, like Schrodinger's cat, I don't know what state its in until I open it. Also, when I generate the outputs I get a long list of "Topic identifi...

Multiple Alias files in a project

Hi all. I have a simple Flare project containing 35 topic files, and from this project I want to create two separate sets of documentation; an "Administrator" set containing all the topics and a reduced "End User" set containing 15 topics (these are shared). I have set up conditi...

Hanging indents in lists

Hi all. I have a bulleted list. In between two of the bullet list items I want a "second level" list with the bullet character indented by about 5mm, the text indented by a further 5mm, and the first letters of all lines of text in the style aligned vertically. I have created a style for t...

OK, thanks guys. Jason, I'll try that. And I'll drop a suggestion to the development team in La Jolla.

Changing text to all-upper-case

Hi all I have a long list (several pages) of property names, each with its associated descriptive text. Everything has been written in a normal mix of upper and lower case characters as appropriate to the text. I need to change the property names to all-upper-case, and if I have to retype them then ...

Re: Vertical text in a table header?

Sorry Graham, when we found the problem with the text wrapping we didn't have time then to investigate further as deadlines were looming, so we dropped the case. However if this is now solved then I'm interested in hearing about it! :)

Re: Highlighting topic titles in HTML5 TOC

OK, thanks, I'll need to keep looking. I haven't upgraded to Flare 10 yet - we've just had a major product release so I didn't want to risk it until that was out of the way. I'll probably upgrade next week, then hopefully it will all become easier. :D

Re: Highlighting topic titles in HTML5 TOC

Thanks Nita, that opens the folder and turns the text bold :D . Do you know if one can add a highlight to the background, e.g. darken it a bit to make it stand out even more? For example, looking at the HTML5 style sheet > Styles tab > Navigation Panel styles, the top item in the Contents tab (MadCa...

Highlighting topic titles in HTML5 TOC

I'm setting up an HTML5 output for on-line help, and I'd like to have the open topic title's background highlighted in the Contents tab so the user can see at a glance where in the help structure he/she is. Currently if I click on a topic in the Contents list, the text for that item turns bold but t...

Re: How to place a text box in front of an image

And my thanks to you David as well. I'll try this and see what happens. Otherwise, as I said to Nita, I'll resort to jpgs and re-visit this later when I have a bit more time to investigate.

Re: How to place a text box in front of an image

Hi Nita Sorry, got a bit busy. Thanks for the tip, but we don't have Capture at the moment and the product release is this coming weekend. Things are therefore starting to get a bit hectic and I don't have time to get new stuff installed and running right now. I'll try to get the div thing working, ...

Re: How to place a text box in front of an image

Hi David Thanks for the tips, but I need to know HOW to set the opacity of the box. I can't find any properties in the stylesheet to do that. And also, as I mentioned, the box is firmly glued into the upper-left corner of the image - it doesn't want to leave. How do I set the position of the box rel...

Re: How to place a text box in front of an image

Hi Lydia I've created two div classes; one for the image and one for the text box, and I now have the image on the page and the text in front of it. So far so good! But the text box is firmly fixed into the upper-left corner of the image and none of the style properties I change will move it down th...

Re: How to place a text box in front of an image

Hi Lydia,
I'm trying to do this in a topic. The marketing team have given me a "standard" jpg image to use for all my projects, and I need to insert the specific document title, ideally using variables so I can link the page into the various projects.

How to place a text box in front of an image

Hi. I want to float a gray, semi-transparent text box with white text in front of an image, as in the attached file. Any suggestions on what I need to do to achieve this will be gratefully received.
Thanks.

Star rating

We are setting up our HTML5 help to use the star rating functionality, and we ran a short test yesterday to check that everything works. We got the impression that the more clicks on the stars one made, the more were required to change the number of stars displayed. We therefore assume that the numb...
