Re: pdf generates with bookmarks but no page content
Hi Marjorie, I've been trying to work out what's changed since the last successful generation and the only thing is the installation of Acrobat Reader XI.THe problem existed in Flare 8 and remains in Flare 9.1. I've checked the page layouts, all seems OK. The PDF output generates fine - no warning m...

Re: pdf generates with bookmarks but no page content
Thanks for these leads, Lisa. I've checked the conditions and stylesheets and nothing seems out of place. It's the same situation for all my projects so it would be strange that these elements were changed across the board. I tried searching for a word in the pdf and none was returned. In the Flare ...

pdf generates with bookmarks but no page content
Using Flare 8 and 9.1, I generate pdf content without errors guring generation but the pdf output when viewed in Adobe Reader 11 only displays the Bookmarks in the left-hand pane. The 100 or so pages "exist" but they are completely blank. The size of the file (>1mb) would point to it havin...

Key "p" opens my webhelp in Chrome
Hi all,
When I use the interface of our web-based product with Chrome and I type the letter "p", the on-line help opens. Do you think this could be a Flare issue or a Chrome issue (or something else!)?
Currently using Flare 8.1.2
Thanks

Re: Linked subproject not appearing in PDF output
AFAIK, you cannot merge subprojects for printed output such as PDF. When you select a project target to link to in your master TOC, you are only given the choice of targets which are A) the same type as the master help and B) either WebHelp, HTML help or DotNet help (in other words you can't link a ...

Re: Flare 5 now available
Just installed F5.0. I was happy to see that you can now (in the Option button for pdf output) define how the pdf opens and disable bookmarks from being generated in the pdf TOC. Saves time post-processing in Acrobat. I would also like to collapse the pdf TOC which is expanded by default to all head...

Impossible to generate PDF after editing TOC file
I noticed one of my PDF projects had its TOC truncated (the second half of the TOC was missing). I looked at the XML TOC file in an internal editor and noticed that a <TocEntry> tag was not closed correctly perhaps because of a preceding condition tag. I modified this by hand and Flare (4.2.1) refus...

Re: PDF Page Orientation problem
Yes I've had some success but not by setting the page properties to landscape in the PDF page layout. In the PageLayout Page Properties dialog , click the basic tab, set the Page Size to (Custom) and set the custom width to 29,7cm and height 21 cm (for A4 landscape - don't have inch equivalents to h...

I tested the problem of images hiding footers after installing 4.1 SP1 and Flare handled everything fine. I await your confirmation, but there seems to be cause for celebration

Re: 4.1.40 Update Released
I also run into the problem Internal Error: Parameter is not valid when building the PDF output. With the previous v4.1.19 it didn't. The strange thing is that when running the Sample Book from Madcap, the PDF output will be generated without any problem. I reported this bug together with my curren...

Any way to create sub-folders in the project directory?
Anyone know how to create sub-folders for the target directory? I'm going to have lots of targets to manage for a project and it would be mighty useful to be able to create sub-folders. I fear this is not possible...

Re: (SOLVED) Images extending off the bottom of the page in PDF
Rosie, My workaround is entirely manual... Any additional material before the new page style could require some manual edits to avoid blank -or nearly blank- pages in the PDF output. Lisa's suggestion might provide a more durable solution to this problem. Like you, I'd be interested in having a few ...

Re: (SOLVED) Images extending off the bottom of the page in PDF
I was experiencing the same problem with images eating up page footers. My workaround was to create a new <p> tag called "new page" which I inserted before the image which overlapped. I then added a "printonly" condition tag to this empty tag to ensure there was no extra line spa...

Re: I've had to revert to Flare 3.1
Ditto... CSH is back up and running for me in 4.1 which is as well 'cos we're shipping our product next week... Nice one MadCap. Completely unrelated to the thread but I'll tag on another positive comment while I'm feeling upbeat. The XML editor in Flare seems to respond much quicker to typed input....

Re: I've had to revert to Flare 3.1
I'm going to test this next week and will report back. But I notice after installing 4.1 that the "corrected" version of MadCapUtilities.js (sent out to some of us a few weeks back who'd submitted a bug) seems to be included in 4.1. I tested a build with the new file last week using versio...

Re: PDF Page Orientation problem
Any luck with this issue?
I have the same problem generating PDF output directly in Flare 4.0 (i.e. not going through FrameMaker). I suspect something's not quite right on MadCap's side... I'd also be happy to send a bug report.
Cheers !

Re: Adding page breaks to headings in Print Output
I'm sure you've checked, but is your CSS medium set to print for your target (in the Advanced tab) and are you modifying the CSS print properties for the CSS print medium ? I've been experiencing erratic behavior when setting print properties including page breaks before. I've tried the properties o...
