Apply a style in Flare using just the keyboard
Hi, Simple question, but how does one apply a style (paragraph or character) in Flare using only the keyboard? FrameMaker has very useful keyboard shortcuts for styles (press F9 and then type as many characters as needed to uniquely select the paragraph style; F8 for character styles). It seems that...

Re: Change the appearance of topic popup
Found the answer, or rather it was given to me by a helpful person at Madcap. There is a patch located at http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/default_CSH.htm#PATF3103 that fixes the scrollbar and beveled window edges for Flare 3.1
Thanks,
John B.

Re: Numbered lists for FrameMaker and HTML help
Doesn't output to FrameMaker correctly. In FrameMaker, you need to "initialize" a list with the stepfirst style; otherwise, the new list continues the numbering from the previous list. And since a FrameMaker document may have many lists, it's necessary to start each new list with <n=1>. Th...

Re: Numbered lists for FrameMaker and HTML help
Here's the stylesheet code for autonumbering for the two numbered list styles:
p.stepfirst mc-auto-number-format {n=1}.
p.step mc-auto-number-format {n+}.
p.stepfirst is for the first item in the numbered list
p.step is for all remaining items in the numbered list
Thanks,
John B.

Re: Numbered lists for FrameMaker and HTML help
Hi Lisa, First of all, I expect a certain behavior from numbered lists. If I put the cursor at the end of a line in a numbered list, and press the Enter key, I expect the new line to be properly numbered. For example, if I have the following list: 1. First item 2. Second item 3. Third item ... and I...

Numbered lists for FrameMaker and HTML help
Hi, I've done a little bit of experimentation with Flare, including importing FrameMaker documents and HTML help projects. I've also tried creating FrameMaker and HTML help outputs. One of the things that I have noticed is that numbered lists seem to be an either/or choice. Perhaps this is a result ...

Re: Flare Keyboard Shortcuts
Hi, I am also using Dragon NaturallySpeaking and have discovered that there are a number of operations for which there are no shortcut keys. Is it possible to customize the shortcut keys in Flare, and for me to add shortcut key combinations for commands that don't have shortcut keys? For example: Sh...

Re: Change the appearance of topic popup
Hi LTinker68, If you're doing topic popups, no, because it's loading the entire topic, including its styles. If you're doing text popups, then you can under the popup styles in the stylesheet. Ah - that's just the kind of information I mean by a reference -- not an HTML reference, but a Flare refere...

Re: Change the appearance of topic popup
Hi LTinker68, I looked into the CSS, and found what seem to be the relevant properties. I think that the "overflow" property may control the scrollbar, but I can't tell because changing the CSS for the project doesn't seem to affect the output (I'm messing around with the popupBody style, ...

Re: Change the appearance of topic popup
Thanks for the answer LTinker68, but that's much more difficult than I'd hoped. I'm just testing out Flare, and I'd hoped to get the effects I want without having to write custom javascript. Something in addition to specifing the dimensions of the popup window (add/remove borders, add/remove scroll ...

Change the appearance of topic popup
Hi,
Is there any way to make a topic popup look like a text popup? I want to have popups that are linked to my definition topics, but I don't want them to have vertical scroll bars or borders. I want them to be flat colored rectangles containing the contents of the definition topic.
Thanks,
John B.

Re: Demo Flare only outputs one topic
Got it - thanks!
To my own humiliation, I found the problem was user error. I expected Flare to output mulitple chapters, but that's not what I told it to do in the TOC.

Demo Flare only outputs one topic
Hi, I just started exploring the demo version of Flare, to discover if it can be used to edit/organize topics for single-source output to FrameMaker (for printed/PDF documentation) and Microsoft HTML help (these are client requirements). One immediate problem that I'm having is that even with the Sa...
