Re: Image optimisation software (batch) recommendations?

Powertoys also has an OCR image capture tool; you can take a screenshot of a page of text (such as a protected web page) and save it as text.

Re: What is stemmer-english.amd.min.js, is it malware?

According to Google it is a script related to search capabilities.

Modern antimalware usually detects these things. If you want to check, find the file and scan it manually.

You can also delete it (or better yet, rename it) and see if you lose some functionality.

Re: Generating output that contains only the figures

You could put a condition on what you want to include and create a new target that only uses that condition.

Re: Image optimisation software (batch) recommendations?

Snagit has batch processing capabilities. You can select images in File Explorer, right click and select Snagit -> Batch convert images . You can also select a folder and Snagit will identify images it can process, including those in sub-folders. In step 2 of the batch export dialog select Image Sca...

Re: ULs wrapping imported text

Couple of things I'd try:

Saving the Word document as rich text before importing.

Opening the document in Wordpad.

That might clean up the content without losing too much.

I'd definitely look at removing unwanted returns in case that is causing the unwanted lists.

Do as much as possible within Word before importing. If you do it often, create a Word Macro to do it for you. I'd suggest removing multip...

Re: ULs wrapping imported text

You can cut and paste Word content into notepad, notepad++, etc, then cut and paste from the text editor into Flare to remove much of Word's "baggage".

Re: Setup Config transfer to new computer

New computer? New monitor as well? Tiling is a CSS attribute, so make sure the image is not set to tile. Also, look at monitor resolution; things look smaller on a large-resolution monitor. Also, make sure scaling is set to 100%, not higher (to make things look bigger), because that is known to caus...

Re: Printed Autonumbering Different from Flare's

The first thing you must realise is that autonumbering within Flare only works for an open topic, but within an output, it should work seamlessly across the whole project, depending on where you reset the counter. For example, if you have a global reset, the numbers should increment through the whol...

Re: System.IO.IOException

I recently installed Microsoft's PowerToys. One of its utilities is "What's using this file?" which allows you to see what application or process has locked a file or folder. Very handy in situations like this. Outlook has always been notorious for locking files. Some PDF readers do it, an...

It is incredible how much can be resolved by pasting content into Notepad or Notepad++ and recopying it before pasting it somewhere else (even back into Word).

Re: Set condition of ONE variable

I think you're missing the point of variables, or at least how I use them. I tend to think of a variable as a project-wide value that remains constant in a project but has a different value in a similar project. Take your torque figure example where you are trying to insert a changeable value into a...

This is a peer-to-peer forum, although Madcap folk drop in from time to time.

Anyone who contributes does so willingly and voluntarily. If people don't have an answer, they won't spend time writing a response.

Merry Christmas

No matter your religious beliefs, most religions have a major festival around the winter (in the northern hemisphere) solstice. With that in mind, I would like to wish all forums a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Peace and goodwill to all forum members and their families.

I think you will find that is a browser setting. Under print options, it will have a check box for headers and footers. Unfortunately, I don't think you can control that for users.

Welcome to the forums...

Yes. Flare 2022 will install alongside the 2021 version, leaving both versions available. The full install for 2022R2 does not need the first release.

As always, back up everything before downloading and installing.

Re: How to move files in the Content Explorer

Both are good points. In this project, I followed Madcap's template structure and just changed names. The topics must appear in a certain order irrespective of where they are used. I could create a large topic for each section, leading to long web pages (something I didn't want). Usually, however, I...

Re: How to move files in the Content Explorer

You can drag and drop files in the Content Explorer window. Flare will offer to update links, if any. You can also move files outside of Flare using the Window's File Explorer, but links are not updated. If you do that the Check Links command from the Analysis toolbar can be used to find broken link...
