Does the Display merged navigation option works?
Hi,
I'm using merged chm files: 1 parent project and several child projects.
In order to see the complete navigation pane in any child CHM, I have put a "merge.txt" file near the flprj file. This solution works.
As I see now there is an option in the target editor (Advanced tab - Display merged ...

Re: Wrong character display in asian CHM with Flare 9
Hello,
I reported this issue to the FLare support and they found another solution. The coding character is OK when removing the "Add DOCTYPE declaration to generated topics" in the Advanced Tab of the CHM Target.
So, if your project does not need this option, it is enought to uncheck it.

Re: Wrong character display in asian CHM with Flare 9
Thanks a lot Kellie. It works on my simplified chinese project.
I didn't have any Masperpage, so I add an empty one, including the code in the header. It looks fine : I can compare with the target generated with Flare 8.
However, I did not notice any pb in the european languages, but I keep it in ...

Thanks a lot for taking time to make some test. I will report the problem to Madcap Support. Fortunately I still have Flare 8 for projects building!

Wrong character display in asian CHM with Flare 9
Our projects are translated in several languages, including simplified chinese and japanese.
Last year with Flare 8, we have compiled and published the projects, after setting the Project language in chinese or japanese. The CHM files work fine and show correct asian characters, both in the TOC et ...

Re: TOC error on Chinese CHM file
Hi,
I already had such kind of problem.
You need to set the project language to Chinese.
If you do this, you can generate and read correctly the Chinese CHM file, without being on a Chinese PC.

Scope of "Exclude content not linked directly or..."
I would like to use the new option in 7.1 version in the Target: "Exclude content not linked directly or indirectly from the target"µ.
The aim is to exclude unused pictures or snippets, and to optimize the CHM size.
After the first test, I can see that some topics linked to the Alias file are ...

Re: Global Project Linking - can you UNlink?
Hello,
I've also been experimenting Project Linking since 2 weeks.
I noticed it's difficult to correct a wrong import file : it's more simple to delete the flimp file and create a new one, when it has began to bug.

Hello,
I am in the same case : I went from Flare 3.1 to 4 and the chm files are very bigger (x3 or x10 depending on the project).
I suspect the new function "Global Project Linking—Importing Files from Other Projects".

Re: Global Project Linking - How to exclude files in the import
Thanks for advise, I will think about that.
I wonder if it is a good idea to create a new project only dedicated for sharing. I had some doubt if it is easy for the writing task and I was a little bit lazzy to re-organize all the existing topics !
Perhaps it will be faster later if I spend some time ...

You said you "accidentally" linked images to the Master project.
So I thought, in the next re-import, the image files were no more in the file list "Include Files".

Global Project Linking - How to exclude files in the import
Hi,
I'm trying to use the Global Project Linking and I do not understand the option "Exclude Files".
I have an Import in my child project, that imports snippets, destinations and glossaries from a Master project.
In the "Include Files" field, I put : <*.fldes;*.flglo;*.flsnp> and it works fine.

Re: Global Project Linking - How do I remove links to images?
Hello McCarthy,
Perhaps it is quite late, but I had an idea regarding the linked images.
Rename the linked image in the child project.
A dialog box asks if you want to remove or keep links to this image : it depends on your project.
After the image has been renamed, it is no more linked to the ...

Import the window layouts from V3 to V4
Hi,
I have just installed Flare V4 and it seems I have no more my customized window layouts.
Is there a way to retrieve them?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
