HELP ! Background color changed and I can't get it back

I built a help last night and everything was fine. My topic background is white. I made a minor change to a filename this morning and then when I built the Help the topic background is yellow ! I went to the Master Stylesheet .. the background is set to white. Is there somewhere else this could be t...

Cross Refs in Word Output

I am generating two versions of a manual from Flare. When I do one version, my cross refs appear fine in Word. After I re-paginate I can update the page refs. In the other version though, the x-refs are "dead". they are just unlinked page numbers and I cannot update them. These are topics ...

hiding topics in search

i recently merged 3 different projects into one so that i can create a comprehensive help and implement single sourcing. i still need to generate stand-alone helps for individual products however. in the output the product specific TOC is fine, and i tagged th eindex entries so only the ones for tha...

Re: CSH that calls entire Help system

At the bottom of the WebHelp Setup pane in the skin there is a section called Topic Settings.

I Checked "Show navigation link at the top of topic" and that does the trick.

Good compromise

Thanks for the help.

CSH that calls entire Help system

We have buttons in our help that will call topics that deal with the particular window the user is on. Currently only that specific topic opens up, not the entire help system. My boss would like to have the entire Help come up with that particular topic opened, so that users can also see the TOC and...

multiple outputs from one project: index and search question

I have 4 main products that I have in one Help project, from which I generate individual Helps and print versions, and one help with all products. Everything seems to work smoothly except that when I generate help for one product, the on-line index includes entries for all products, and a search wil...

Re: Some general look and feel questions

well it does indeed look better on IE and Safari, but I checked with a couple of co-workers and it looks fine for them even in Firefox, so I must have something funky in my Firefox settings. Anyway, I changed the body background color in my style sheet (per Flare Help) but it is not showing up as ba...

Some general look and feel questions

The body text (p) in my output looks a lot thinner that that in the WYSIWG. The font settings for the mediums are all the same (Verdana 12). Captures below. Any thoughts ? While on the subject, can everyone chime in on what font/size they use for Help and Print ? I have read some of the basic philos...

Re: arggggg tables

i don't need anything fancy. just a basic table with no headaches. how do you not use a table stylesheet ? don't you have to select one when you create the table. while we are on the subject, how do i have my table resize automatically in the browser window (so text doesn't wrap on itself) and how d...

Re: arggggg tables

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

when i generated print output the table ran off the right margin.

i went back to Flare and looked at the topic in Print Layout, and when I went back to Web Layout the table was completely hosed !

this is ridiculous

Re: arggggg tables

another frustrating issue i have with tables is that, when viewing output, if the browser window is not wide enough, the text in a cell will wrap over itself making it illegible (rather than going to a new line).

Re: arggggg tables

i tried doing Enter then backspace for every cell and that seems to work (hard to believe I have to go through just to create a usable table). I tried selecting all the rows, right-click > Cell Content Style, but there were no p styles to choose in the options. Just for kicks, I also created a new p...

Re: arggggg tables

if i just insert a table and use the default table style, a table is created with no border lines (in or out). the cells are tagged td and when you type in text there is zero margin around the text. hard to believe this supposed to be a useful table style. are there other default styles you can acce...

arggggg tables

my tables look great in the WYSIWYG, but when i do a preview, or build, the font is all screwy and the padding in the cells is gone.

i checked the print medium for the td styles and they are the same as for the non-print.

any thoughts on why my tables get corrupted ?

thanks

Re: Indenting list tag

I am in the style editor and I can't find anyplace to change the margin or padding for the li style .....

Are you saying that to create a list I shouldn't use the list drop-down in the menu ? How else would I do it ?

Thanks

when i go to the properties for the li style there is no place to edit the padding or margin .... there are only two tabs: Font and Advanced. How do I change the padding ?
