Re: Perforce and Flare
Thanks for the additional info! My main concern right now is putting together a process that's clear for a team that is new to both Flare and source control/Perforce. Every little bit of info helps.

Re: Target Build Fails When Project Resides On A Network
Back to the original issue.....
I have found that this remote build issue is only happening with one laptop so there's something in that machine's configuration that's fighting with the Flare build. It fails to create the user folder in the output path, if that's a clue.

Re: auto-saving and weird minimize issues with 5.0
I am also having trouble with the minize feature in Capture v5. Instead of minimizing to the system tray, Capture flashes repeatedly on the screen until it crashes with an MS error. I've been on the phone with MC support and the error doesn't point to something specific to Capture. Anyone else ...

Re: Perforce and Flare
You rock, Kevin!
I agree that it's a chore, but it's a chore I'm stuck with right now. In my ideal world, I wouldn't be having to write up a detailed process for the writing team to follow to use the SCS, but that's just the nature of the beast right now.

Re: Perforce and Flare
I have a more simple question about Perforce and Flare. My company uses Perforce for source control and will not be making a different SCS purchase just for tech pubs. Setting Flare's internal source control process aside... can I use Perforce ONLY for source control processes outside of Flare ...

Re: scrolling web page
Agreed! My comment is because I was told that the Capture dev group had said this feature is not possible without disabling Javascript and Flash...which is not acceptable nor necessary when using SnagIt's capture w/autoscroll option.

Re: Target Build Fails When Project Resides On A Network
I agree and I haven't tried a build from a project that is residing at the root of the network drive. It's all an MS dfs hairball and my suspicion is that the fix (temporary) is to make sure that the network machine name/IP address is added to my hosts file. Since I am the lead (crash test dummy) on ...

Re: Target Build Fails When Project Resides On A Network
Yes, I can copy...which aslo means I can set a Publishing target on the network share when I build locally. Sounded "permissionish" to me, too. Got an IT dude chained to the issue so we'll see how long it takes to resolve it.

Re: scrolling web page
Good news. My enhancement request has been recieved and passed on to dev with a demo of how SnagIt works and the suggestion that Capture should do the same to be competitive. Now, we'll see if that results in better functionality in the next Capture release. Until then...SnagIt is winning my ...

Re: Target Build Fails When Project Resides On A Network
Yep - I know. I have a report because the build completed with errors. The output is unusable. Do you want to see the report? It's a list of "can't find the file path" errors, even though the topics exist right where Flare is looking. The one unique thing is that the target build is not creating the ...

I just found this issue in Capture v5. Reported it with the expected behavior as: Make it work like SnagIt.

Re: Installing Analyzer v2.3
We're only seeing this with Analyzer. I installed for a coworker yesterday and warned him that there would be a delay (from my experience) so to "sit on his hands" for a bit while we wait. But then the wait got longer....and longer...checked Task Manager to see if anything was runnning in the ...

Is anyone else having issues with the Analyzer installer launching? We have experienced a several minute delay; enough to cause one to click again only to end up with several instances appearing at the same time.

Re: Flare 5 is messing up my styles
My issue solved! The one piece I had not taken into account (this is a hyperlink I'm working on), is that I had followed the link within my topic. That make Flare behave as though it is displaying a followed link in the Preview view. Now I just need to figure out how to get my link back to "not ...

My browser cache isn't involved in Preview Compiled Topic, right? I figured it was browser cache when viewing the output but then the same issue showed up in the Preveiw from the XML Editor.

Re: Breadcrumbs as links

The application and the help is such that it is important to make sure that navigation is both good and streamlined. I can tell by the differing opinions ...

Re: Breadcrumbs as links
Hi,
Yes, I do have some parent books, but what I want the Flare breadcrumbs to do is what breadcrumbs do in an application - create your path to follow back through your navigation to where you started. What breadcrumbs are designed to do; hence the name breadcrumbs.
