Re: Link styles to a condition?

This is an old ticket, but I'd like to note the resolution. As of Madcap Flare 2018 R2 (and quite possibly earlier), styles have an mc-conditions setting under the Unclassified group that will present a list of conditions that can be applied to the style, just as you would apply conditions to select...

Re: Flare 12 and Word target ignoring table column widths

I've found a better work-around: Modifying the table style CSS to set the unwanted header, footer, or body sections to display: none. Again, PDF and HTML5 do fine without a table header row. This is necessary only if you also have a Word target (which requires both a header row and a body row).

Re: Flare 12 and Word target ignoring table column widths

I know this is an old discussion, but I've been wrestling with a similar problem: Column widths that work fine in HTML5 and PDF but are reset to wrong widths (often equal-size) in Word. This is as of Madcap Flare 2018 R2. Some tables worked; others did not. I realized that the difference was that th...

Re: Computed entries and previous/next buttons

I would like to know the answer to this, as well. I am fine with the Menu Proxy showing the h2, h3, h4 topics, and I know how to control that level. I've also managed to place PREVIOUS and NEXT buttons at the foot of the page (I created a TopicToolbarFooter proxy for the Previous and Next buttons), ...

Re: Badly formed pages in HTML5 -- single quotes strike agai

A good thought, but no; these were straight single quotes. I also tested adding and removing the single quotes from within Flare, and recompiling each time. Just now, I put single quotes around an h1 header that had never had any punctuation and recompiled. Sure enough, the top and side menus for th...

Badly formed pages in HTML5 -- single quotes strike again

I recently began converting some older content to newer HTML5 templates. Most of the content was looking pretty good, but I noted that a couple of pages were not showing the top or side menus. The settings for those topics and their TOC entries matched the settings for topics that did show the top a...

Thanks, sdcinvan. Re: Conditions in page layout

You might want to try creating a snippet that contains both images. Within the snippet, you can set condition tags. Then, place the snippet in the page layout.

I haven't tested this, myself, but in theory it should work. Good luck.

Using single TOC for Master Pages and PDF

Situation: I am using Flare 7. - I want to be able to compile to both PDF and Word. - I want to be able to show chapter numbers in the headers and footers. Chapter and section numbers are system variables that will work in page layouts in PDF but not in page layouts in Word. These number variables, ...

Re: RESOLVED -- link to file error -- but file "clean"?

A lot of time has passed since your post, but I did find it helpful -- thanks. I had a similar situation. I tried your tactic of temporarily moving the one file mentioned to see what additional error information Flare would return on a compile, and I did get more information on the files making the ...

Re: Link styles to a condition?

Thanks for the thoughts, Lisa. In this situation, that won't work because I want to be able to present a draft version in a target (with internal comments excluded) to certain third parties, while maintaining the internal comments in another target. The include/exclude aspect of the condition is act...

Link styles to a condition?

Background: I am using Flare 7. I am working with a group unfamiliar with Flare and resistant to change; I'm not going to be able to persuade them to use Contributor as a review tool. I need to be able to include internal notes that can be excluded for specific targets. I can use the annotation feat...

Re: Continue Sequence Error Question

I would leave the bullets alone and use an auto-number control in a paragraph class for the snippet. That way, the snippet numbering is independent of other numbering. There may well be other ways to handle it.

Hi, Josh, I was researching a similar question not long ago and found this write-up helpful: http://flareforhelp.lauracjohnson.com/category/css/page/2/ It sounds as thoough you need to differentiate the number sequences. I hope the link helps. As the author said, I added the H to separate this style...

Re: SharePoint - file size cap on uploads within Madcap?

I considered that as a possibility, Msquared, but I don't think the timeout itself is the problem. Files of <= 199KB -- a few seconds at most. File of 201KB -- The "publish" process sits on the "Uploading content ... " point, then after 100 seconds, instead of "Succeeded,&qu...

SharePoint - file size cap on uploads within Madcap?

I have been trying to publish some WebHelp output to SharePoint. (I would rather publish directly to a secure ftp location, but SharePoint is currently my only option). Nearly all files upload correctly, but a handful do not. These all have as a common factor a size over 200kb. (They are not huge fi...

Re: PDF bookmarks pane includes hyperlinked Flare bookmarks

I'm using Flare 8.1.2. I, too, am seeing the unwanted series of bookmarks in my PDF's browser ToC. In testing, I've ensured that the links are cross-references, not hyperlinks -- but the xrefs are indeed being listed. I know this thread is rather old, and it appears the old work-around won't apply. ...

Re: Dropped list numbering in HTML (and DotNet) output types

Thank you. Lisa. As both width settings had been working for most output types I tested, it hadn't occurred to me to remove them. - Removing both widths allowed the numbers to appear. - Adding the ol width value only, caused the numbers to once again disappear in the html output. - Adding the li wid...

Re: Dropped list numbering in HTML (and DotNet) output types

Thanks for the tips.

The current settings are:

Code: Select all

ol
{
	width: 720px;
}

li
{
	color: #000000;
	margin-bottom: .6em;
	margin-top: .6em;
	font-size: 10pt;
	font-family: Verdana;
	vertical-align: text-top;
	width: 700px;
}
I will see if margin adjustments will do the trick.

Dropped list numbering in HTML (and DotNet) output types

I have some simple numbered lists that are working fine in most output types (WebHelp, Word, PDF, HTML5). One output type I will need is HTML. However, for HTML (and for DotNet, I've noted), the numbers don't appear in compiled output. All other list formatting (indents, etc.) seems to be preserved ...
