We are currently looking at a mobile webhelp solution for a new product. The web-based product will work with most smart phones and we are trying to figure out what the flare help will work with and what it won't. Does anyone have a good idea as to which smart phones OS's we might run into trouble ...

I believe I have found the problem and what to do to fix this, although I'm not sure how this will affect very large projects where the solution may not be desirable.

1. Open your target file in Flare (MyWebHelp(Primary).
2. Select the Performance tab.
3. Un-check "Chunk Large Search Database Files ...

further testing confirms that anything with "is not" inside of text like "test test is not test test" will produce the problem. It looks like it is searching the index XML and finding "is not" and spitting that xml out multiple times.

Try this:

1. Open a topic in Flare (in the Content Explorer). It should be in a Text Editor.
2. Click the X next to the topic tab above the edit window.
3. Now double-click the topic again in your Content Explorer.

I found the problem. I have a style we call Spacer that we put in before and after tables in our documents. When Flare reached one of these spacer styles, the import failed. I removed all the spacer styles from my document and the import completed.

The style is 8pt Arial Narrow, superscript, 0 ...
