Re: Flare on iOS or Android?

Not Android or iOS, but Flare should run on a Window-8-tablet like Lenovos Thinkpad Tablet 2.
I didn't try, but i guess it would be rather slow.

Re: Any jQuery users out there?

I use jquery to make a long table in a chm-output sortable for the user (with a click on the column-header). It works fine, but it's a while ago, since i implemented it. So i can't really give good advice, but here is the code of the said topic: … <head><title>SQL PW Gesamt</title> <link href=&quo...

Re: System Requirements-what's the best PC for Flare?

Here is an update to my post above, re SSD: Due to a hardware failure I had to get a new PC (Thinkpad T500) and I left preinstalled Vista on it. I transferred the new Vista installation to my SSD (X-25m with new firmware!!) and swapped it into the T500. Now compilation time is less than half than be...

jquery and other javascript frameworks

I only just discovered the possibilities of jquery (an open source javascript framework) for the use in websites. There are some applications that could also be useful in help files, i.e. sorting tables, zooming images. I wonder that the search says, jquery has never been mentioned in these forums? ...

Re: System Requirements-what's the best PC for Flare?

I have recently swapped the 7200rpm-HDD with an SSD (x25-m flash-based harddrive) in my Thinkpad (R61 with 3GB RAM). That really makes a difference! Everything Read-related is faster and feels even much faster. That applies to starting applications, starting windows, open flare-projects, sorting the...

Re: Bad character spacing in PDF

In my case, changing the font-size to 96dpi helped a lot. I just tried it and it looks good, after i took out the negative spacing setting, which i had tried as a workaround. Last time i tried to produce PDFs, I ended up going back to Indesign, that means: no single sourcing. But now i will give it ...

Re: PDF-engine, PDF-settings

In version 4, though, these other tools are no longer necessary: Flare 4 can output directly to PDF on its own. Yes, i know that and have already done this many times successfully. This is a great function! But most applications i know have some (more or less) options or settings for creating PDFs....

PDF-engine, PDF-settings

As i understand, it needs some kind of a pdf-engine oder renderer (like Distiller) to output pdfs. Now there are my questions: What (internal?) pdf-engine does Flare use? Or to put it differently: does it make any difference, if there is Acrobat/Distiller installed on the system, and if so, which ve...

Re: Bad character spacing in PDF

Hello, i had (and still have) the same problem with Flare and found somewhere in these forums, that a negative "letter-spacing"-value in the style helps, e.g. "-1pt". I can confirm this, at least for the standard-fonts that i use in pdf-output. (I still wonder how a solution like...

Re: Flare 4: DIV with background image for warnings

Thank you for sharing your solution, JupiterJones! I had the same problem with a warning-symbol not showing in pdf, when set up as a background-image. So i took your approach and changed it a little bit. It has three DIVs (DIV-classes) now, but the advantage is, that i don't need a second set of blo...
