thanks. how come that's not clearer in the manual is beyond me. NOW, it makes sense because in the right column I ONLY see certain styles and not others so I was lost as to where I was meant to map it.

Okay, I am talking about the internal XML editor in Flare, yup, that's what it says in the left pane when I open the topic file.

so, how do I show WHAT <p+> style I'm using without the 3-step mambo first?

Isn't that the internal editor I'm talking about? The one that shows the HTML structure? Or is that the XML editor? Why can't I customize how the XML editor shows styles?

I tried that.

I see the p style and for example, my Note style under it. However, when I import the file, Note shows up in my styles FROM word but not in the list on the right for the available styles to map to in Flare.

I've my docs in Flare, I open up one of the topics in the XML editor, I see:

how come it doesn't show me WHAT p style is being used? Why do I have to highlight, wait for the dialog to change color under the p ...

You can save and reuse the import template as far as I know. You can also match the styles against a style sheet of choice by referencing a different once during import.

This is where I get lost.

I have all of my styles assigned in Word, I'd need to recreate the look/feel of those styles in the .css for Flare? Can I base it on the imported file for one of my files and make that universal or default for every file imported into my project after that?

Strange thing is one is embedded as an original Visio file, however, ONE of them imported fine, another did not.

ANother graphic that is embedded as a jpg didn't import while another one did.

A couple dozen of my graphics do not import. Unfortunately,the SME who gave the documents to me was "creative" and used visio in some cases and powerpoint in others to create graphics embedded in my source word documents ...

Every time in Flare 3.1 I imported a word document, my TOC would NOT import properly, meaning I could break at heading 1 and had to recreate all the sub-toc levels. Now, I reimported all of my source documents and ALL of the sub-toc levels are created automatically.

I'm trying to "reimport" my files which seem to not be in my project (made an earlier post about trying to import my files into a Flare project, having issues there, so figured, I'd try the method in the help).

I can reimport one of the file but the second one shows the following dialog box ...

Using Flare 3.1
Created brand new project
Went to File > Import Project > Import MS Word Documents
Went through the whole wizard, indicated to import 3 Word Documents in the root of my local drive
Flare went through it's import process.

No errors.

Yes, and you've met most users? I just helped a coworker "print" a file. She went into Word and clicked Print and then when the dialog came up, was annoyed that the file didn't print. Again, just saying if the paradigm is a project, follow the paradigm through, Flare creates my project directories ...

That's standard with anything you do with Windows. Windows will tell you if another program is accessing a file/folder and therefore it can't be deleted. Some programs, unfortunately, even lock the file after you've closed it because it's in the "recently used" list. The only way to clear that flag ...

To pick nits here, if the project is going to be deleted from Flare, Flare should handle deleting it from wherever it is. I shouldn't have files/projects littered all over my hard drive.
