Re: customizing WebHelp skin

The one that's not left-aligned is the Accordion Title, at the top.

customizing WebHelp skin

I've been customizing the skin to match the color scheme of our application but there are a few things I can't seem to customize. I'm hoping someone will point me to the places these are specified:
* The Accordion title text position - I can customize the background gradient and font color, but the ...

Re: TOC label doesn't match output

I know this worked correctly in previous versions. If someone from Madcap is moderating, can you check to see if this is perhaps a bug with one of the updates (I'm using v4.2).

TOC label doesn't match output

In my printed output TOC, I have reworded some of the items. They look fine on the TOC. They used to look fine in the TOC output. Recently, I noticed that what was showing in the output is not what's on the TOC - they revert to the filename (without the extension). The Topic Title (in the Properties ...

Re: Heading level inconsistencies

I don't think I'm explaining my problem. If you look at the last item, you'll see that it is indented more - like it skips a level or something. I can't figure out why Flare pushes that heading (which is an h2...but an h2 in a topic that's in a book that's in another book) so far right.

As I said ...

Heading level inconsistencies

I have Use TOC depth for heading levels checked.
I have indented topics/boooks in my TOC thusly:

Book A (linked to Topic 1)
..Topic 2
..Topic 3
..Book B (linked to Topic 4)
....Topic 5
....Topic 6
Book C (linked to Topic 7)
etc

All topics have an h1. Most topics also have h2 and h3 headings.
The ...

Re: size of custom buttons

Since this is longer ago than yesterday, I'm having a hard time remembering. I used PaintShop Pro and defined a palette - using the RGBs our design guys have defined for the application this goes with. Hope that helps.

Re: disc image not found for print media

You should not. I worked with my css for awhile and found that some discrepancies in my ol, ul, and li items. The ol item is now set to list-style-type decimal, the ul item is set to list-style-type disc, and the li item has nothing set for list-style-type. I have items underneath the li item for ...

For other users, there's a KB article. The files to changes are MadCapIndex.js and MadCapTOC.js . The KB article specifies the info to change.

Re: disc image not found for print media

For print, we use Palatino Linotype, so yeah, I changed that for the styles. However, this was working before. I released final docs a few months ago and the print docs had Palatino Linotype and bullets. Although I was using Flare v3 for that.

disc image not found for print media

My bullet styles (li whatever) use disc as the image. When I preview a topic for Print or output to PDF, the bullets are missing. (Previewing for online or outputting to help; bullets are fine). I can't figure out where that disc bullet image is stored. I created a new bullet image and put it in the ...

Not direct PDF output, but PDF through Word or FrameMaker. Which was part of the issue.

Re: First Page not taking

I logged a bug report about the bottom border of the header disappearing. I fooled with this extensively and worked with MadCap Tech Support; I ended up adding a rule to the header to get a pseudo-border (at their suggestion).

I am otherwise mostly satisfied with my PDF output. I do not use "inject ...

Re: customizing WebHelp skin

For anyone else doing this, what worked is:
window.open("../Content/Using Help.htm","_blank", "resizable=1,width=300,height=300")

where "Using Help.htm" is the topic file I'm opening. The path depends on where your help is installed; I put the files I wanted to call from buttons at the Content ...

Re: size of custom buttons

FYI for all of you following this with bated breath - I created gif's so I'd have icons for these (just labels with the proper RGB for the text and background shading; snagged with SnagIt) and those work perfectly.

Re: color of text in nav items

Thanks for trying; unfortunately this doesn't solve the problem. Font for the Index entry item is set to black and there is no hover or selected style for the Index item. The Index entry popup (which I thought might be the one I want) also is already set to black. TOC entry font also is set to black ...

color of text in nav items

I have customized the styles for various items in my WebHelp skin but Ican't find where to set the color for the text of the Search, Index, and TOC items, when you hover over them. Right now they display red - and I don't see anywhere this is set.

size of custom buttons

I have managed to add buttons to my WebHelp skin toolbar that open specific topics; these buttons are labeled with a short version of the topic name (like "Troubleshooting" or "Scenarios"). There's no icon for these buttons; the Label just shows. I can't figure out how to specify the size of the ...

customizing WebHelp skin

Problem #1:
I've seen several items in this forum for creating a button on the toolbar that would open a web page or a topic in the project. I've created the button and tried many things in the OnClick area but I cannot get it to open a topic in the project. I've been able to make it display a blank ...

I have customized my WebHelp skin but can't seem to find the item that controls the color of the selector for an accordion item. I'm talking about the color that indicates that a particular item in the accordion bar is selected (e.g., Search has blue text and a gray background, but if you click it ...

Re: First Page not taking

I have this set up and only my chapter-specified topics have the first page applied. The topics below book level don't need to be marked for a chapter or section break (sorry if I'm stating the obvious). For topics below book level, you may want to make sure the section and chapter are set to ...

Re: Master Page Layouts: "Page Name" vs. "Page Type"

I think you need to create two sets of page layouts, one for chapters and one for the appendix. If they are mostly the same, you can copy the layout and then just rename it and modify for the differences (like the different first page).

Re: First Page not taking

In the TOC, open the Properties dialog for the topic (in my TOC, each book starts a new chapter, so would use a First page - so I open the Props dialog for each book). On the Printed Output tab, set the Page Type to First. It doesn't apply the First page to all pages in the output, it just knows ...

Rules in headers and footers

I'm using the default page layouts with the headers and footers. I changed the text in them to fit my doc. Both the header and footer have a rule, but when I output to PDF, only the rule in the footer shows. My frames are not overlapping. I tried adding a decoration frame below the heading frame and ...
