Re: Can I Use a variable with a Mailto link?
My solution to the above problem has been to create a snippet with the hyperlink (including the email & subject ). It's not perfect, but it's better than having to change it every time. Though I would be keen to hear if anyone has a better way of including the topic automatically?

Re: Concept markers vs. Index markers
I've been struggling with this question for a while - and here's what I've come up with:
I use concepts for lateral links and index words for "detailed" hierarchical links.
For instance, I have an Audio library in my project that contains a variety of objects (sounds, listeners, emitters). By ...

Thanks... third time was the charm.
The problem seems to occur in the content explorer and the file list
Weird.

Re: Action to send an email?
Is there any way to automatically pull the topic header as the subject heading for the email?
For instance, I'm currently working on a handbook.
If people have questions about our documentation process, I'd like to give them a link - that automatically formats the subject heading to "Question from ...

Condition tag color scheme changes?
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this:
It used to be that if you had several conditional tags applied to a document, each tag represented a single "slice" of the colored box in the content explorer.
But suddenly, I've noticed that it only shows the color for the most recently applied ...

Include & exclude from output based on conditions
We are currently in the process of cleaning up the documentation.
Specifically, I am reviewing the blocks of code that appear as samples in the documentation.
Ultimately, we don't want these translated and so I use a noTranslate condition on all of those blocks.

Re: Unable to search index below first level
Hi Bill,
There is also a search utility (look for the magnifying glass icon) that will pick up level 2 entries and below.
However, if they don't want to use that, I seem to have an inadvertant work-around for this: double up your entries :)
The reason I do this is that some people may be ...

Snippets & Image maps
Hi,
I am currently documenting a small GUI tool.
In this case, the best approach to navigation is to use a clickable screen capture of the front page. It works out to an image map with a dozen or so links.
I haven't been able to copy the image with the map. Has anyone had any luck doing ...

Hi Kevin,
I have some snippets that will be "original" and some "hyperlink" in the same document.
I only want one version of each snippet to appear - but there may be both kinds.

Snippets, hyperlinks, and conditionals, Oh my!
Hi,
In my quest to make things ever more complicated, I've decided that it would be really handy to modify my existing "method" snippets (i.e. snippets of the method names used in our project and referenced in the documentation.)

Re: Format a snippet?
EDIT: Ok, I think I found it: notice that I also had to change the snippet reference from MadCap:snippetText to MadCap:snippetBlock.

Yes, that did the trick... but I had to do this edit via the internal editor rather than the usual WYSIWYG approach. Is there an ...

Format a snippet?
Hi,
I have a snippet that contains an introductory paragraph and an unordered list with three hyperlinked items.
However, once the snippet is inserted into a topic, the text gets compressed into a single paragraph. This ends up looking like there is only one link, when there are three.

Snippets and new lines
Hi,
Does anyone know why some snippets automatically prefix and suffix themselves with a new line?
I have several snippets that do this and they appear no different than those that do not!
