Re: Broken links in PDF output - v2021
Yes, many hyperlinks are broken in PDF when I publish from the latest version of Flare 2021. Clicking a link "hops" the PDF page about an inch, but doesn't take the user to the correct topic. This occurs when my hyperlinks are navigating to bookmarks, rather than topics or headings. Using ...

Re: Using Snippets or Micro-Content for CSH?
There was just a thread on LinkedIn about this. The UI software development kits already contain tools for developers to implement field-level help in their applications, in the most efficient way possible. Any workaround in Flare will add a ton of unneeded overhead and work for both the writer and ...

Re: Highlight paragraph without changing styles in it
You can also add a generic class to your stylesheet and be able to highlight portions of a paragraph or individual items in a list:
CSS:
.highlight
{
background-color: #ffff00;
}
You can also select the generic style for DIV tags.
CSS:
.highlight

Re: How to format Mini-Toc
The default padding between MiniTOC proxy lines is considered '0'. So any number above zero will increase the distance. You need to change the padding-top of each p.MiniTOC# to a negative number. Here is the CSS: p.MiniTOC1 { padding-top: -10px; } p.MiniTOC2 { padding-top: -10px; } p.MiniTOC3 { padd...

Re: Broken URLs with Apache Tomcat
Looks like Madcap released Flare 2017 r3 today. The release notes indicate this issue has been fixed. http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/Content/Flare/General/GEN1058F_-_Flare_2017_r3_Release_Notes.htm Issue 130870 I have tested this on my apache server, and I no longer have the issue where the pages will...

Re: Broken URLs with Apache Tomcat
According to web standards, characters like | should be URL-encoded (%7C in this case). Starting in 7.0.73, Tomcat started enforcing the relevant web standard and now rejects URLs with all kinds of technically illegal characters. This was in response to a particular web security concern, CVE-2016-6...

Re: 2017r2 - update or not?
I found this about the ugly vs clean URL in the latest help - not sure it helps, but thought I'd post for people to check out: http://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2017r2/Content/Targets/Flare/More/Synchronizing-Navigation-Elements-with-TOC-Entries.htm?Highlight=toc%20url This was helpful for unders...

Re: Broken URLs with Apache Tomcat
Thanks Dave. I got a followup from Madcap Support. They were able to reproduce this issue on an Apache Tomcat server and verified it was introduced in 2017r2. Their temporary solution was to downgrade to the previous version of Flare. I previously reported that users can add a property to the catali...

Broken URLs with Apache Tomcat
I'm still struggling with Madcap Support on my issue with Web Help. I've identified the root cause and sent them more information on how to reproduce it. Its a somewhat specific scenario, but others might be encountering it. Here is what I believe to be the issue: If your web help is hosted from an ...

Yes I have. I am having difficulty getting them to reproduce the issue. But they are aware of the issue.doc_guy wrote:Chris - have you reported this to MadCap directly? They don't always monitor the forums, so your best bet is to always file an official bug report for stuff like this.

Re: Shortcuts for Notes, warnings, etc
Can you post the html for a note in your doc? It will be helpful to see how it is created, then someone can better point you in the right direction. In your XML editor, you should have a Text Editor tab that displays your content in html. Identify the html code that makes a note, and then paste that...

Re: Shortcuts for Notes, warnings, etc
The Flare notes are div tags. If the div style was created in your stylesheet, you can acces it from the Group menu. groupMenu.PNG 1. Place your curser on the line that you want to apply the note to. 2. From the Home tab, in the Paragraph pane, click the Group button. 3. Find the div style for your ...

Re: 2017r2 - update or not?
I found another issue with broken TOC's that has not been described here. In Flare 2017 r2, the TOC is broken when accessed via a CSH link in Tri-pane HTML5 output. When a user selects a CSH link, the help system loads to the correct page, and appears fine. If the user selects any other TOC link, th...

Re: Specifying the language in the <HTML> Tag for Accessibil
Hi Nima, Thanks for the advice. I attempted to implement the tab index property that you specified in to my skin, but that didn't seem to have any affect on my output. Maybe I added it within the wrong element? Madcap Support responded to my issues with a work around for the lang element to the HTML...

Re: Specifying the language in the <HTML> Tag for Accessibil
Thanks for the info. I see the language declaration in the topics. I need to see it in the skin. The html in the skin is built with this: <html class="defaultSkin left-layout _Skins_HTML5" data-mc-runtime-file-type="Default;TriPane"> I need the lang="en" in both places ...

Re: Specifying the language in the <HTML> Tag for Accessibil
Nita, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that setting did not add the lang property to my output. Right now my only option is to manually add it to the default.htm and default_CSH.htm files that are generated when I build output. I am somewhat disappointed in Flare this morning. There are quite a f...

Specifying the language in the <HTML> Tag for Accessibility
Greetings! My company has a substantial prospect that is looking at our product and requires 508 compliance as well as WCAG 2.0. Both specifications are listed in Madcap's help, but not very well documented. Our prospect has done an in depth audit of our help and found a few issues. The first of whi...

Re: Is it me? Or is it Flare 12?
Corporate IT decision I have no control over. I'm an early adopter and all my home PC's have been running on Windows 10 since it became available. Of the three PC's I've migrated to Windows 10 only 1 had a sound card driver issue that was easily fixed by uninstalling the Lenovo driver and letting Wi...

What else have you running? 8GB is a bit meager these days...and Win 10??? Not ready for production use. There is a big update coming out in August, m...

Re: Is it me? Or is it Flare 12?
I still have some more testing to do to see if I can determine the root cause. I don't believe the issue is tied to analyzer or source control - I'm getting blank screens on projects not bound to Subversion, and all of my analyzer options are off. I'm on Windows 10 Pro 64bit edition, using 64bit Fla...

Re: Is it me? Or is it Flare 12?
Flare 12 was running just fine for me, until I was upgraded to Windows 10. Now Flare is very buggy. Almost everytime I press Backspace on the keyboard Flare locks up or the XML editor goes completely blank for a few seconds. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flare, ensured Windows 10 was fully update...

Re: Flare 12: PDF output unusable!
Madcap support determined that my PDF preview issue was a problem with Adobe Reader. I had to uninstall and re-install reader to get it to work correctly. So after fixing my footer frame my PDF output is fine now.
