Re: Anybody using Flare with DITA?
I would certainly like to add myself to the group of Flare authors who would like to see more compliant DITA output support. It would be really interesting to see how the MadCap team and for that matter, how the MadCap XML authoring interface can be used to simplify the DITA markup authoring process...

Re: Anybody using Flare with DITA?
Ramon, my only comment on your thoughts is that recently we have found the ideal situation where DITA is going to be helpful. That is, we sold off one part of our company. The other company who bought it isn't using any of the same tools we did. However, they are using DITA and we're finding that t...

Wouldn't that be a lovely criteria to check for in Spell Check or a MadCap Analyzer language analyzer workflow

Re: Anybody using Flare with DITA?
Thanks guys. I used to work in Arbortext a lot, which is why I was wondering if you could point Flare at a DTD. I'll just have to parse my brain using a virtual DTD & hope what comes out at the other end is vaguely compliant. I am more interested in the information typing than the actual file s...

Re: Flare v. Robo Features
Although TFS integration might be better in RH, I wouldn't base the whole decision on that one feature. After all, you don't have to integrate to any source control within RH or Flare -- you can use the source control's interface to do the checking in and out. Doing it within RH and Flare is certai...

Re: CMS capabilities of Flare
But if one can add its own metadata at the top of each topic, that should be enough for my purposes, right? I mean, just add some keywords so that other authors can find the topics related to whatever they are authoring. How do you achieve this? Do you have to create some sort of metadata definitio...

Re: Anyone know when Mimic 6 is due?
Am pretty sure there will be one release this year.
BTW, have you posted a bug report for your niggles and problems using Mimic 5. This ensures devs can actually plan to incorporate your suggestions when they get to it.

Re: Happy or unhappy with Lingo?
Translation is growing to be more essential in the coming years as products are sold and used 'everywhere'. Not only that. People seeking work are moving globally and can benefit from multilingual apps even when the vendor sells only to one or two countries. For US companies English, Spanish, Frenc...

Re: So... Any News About Flare 7?
I think Flare 6 was released in March 2010. Looking forward to seeing what's coming. :) Looking forward to some game changing approaches to native DITA authoring. Not easy, but innovations to simplify authoring with DITA isn't necessarily a bad thing. Flare seems to be leading the HATT consistently...

Best way is to log up a formal bug report. The forums will help you give it momentum and weight if its a commonly occuring bug that others have noticed. Translation is growing to be more essential in the coming years as products are sold and used 'everywhere'. And if products and their documentation...

Re: DITA outputclass attribute ignored on import?
I'm using Flare v6.1.0 to import a DITAMAP (and associated .xml files) into a project for producing a .PDF deliverable. I've noticed that my outputclass attributes on various elements seem to be ignored. This is surprising, as these are generally used to generate element classes in transformed outp...

Re: SHAREPOINT & MADCAP = what's the deal?
There might be compelling reasons to publish targets to Sharepoint. But I do not imagine this to be the solution for everything (so much depends on the business case and challenge you expect to face): For example: - Is configuration management/document versioning/change management an issue? - Is thi...

We store images in the default images directory. It simply seems like the logical thing. I do make sure the file names are understandable and follow a common naming convention though. identify the type of picture. Is it an icon, chart or screen, common collateral like cover pages and branding assets...

Thanks for your workaround - it works! However, just like you, I would have to update many headings manually. Re: "Space before" at the top of a page
I've been using structure bars quite a lot, but I do still have to pop into the text editor to make changes because I can't figure out how to do stuff, for example, in the middle of a list I might want a paragraph that doesn't have a number. 1. Do this action. This is the result of doing the action...

Re: "Space before" at the top of a page
The more I work with this package, the more I dislike it. It's really too late to go back to something I can enjoy working with for the particular project, and I live in the (I suspect futile) hope that I'll grow to tolerate, if not love, Flare. But that learning cliff is just so tough to cope with...
