Re: Force footer table in masterpage to bottom of viewing pa
If I remember correctly, I tried setting the position of the div to fixed as described here: https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_css_fixed_footer.asp . However, my div footer extended beyond the right side of the browser and was cut off. I also tried using absolute positioning as described in this...

Re: Force footer table in masterpage to bottom of viewing pa
I recently did something similar for our Knowledge Base website footer when updating it to match the company website footer. The footer is pretty large and looked a bit strange on our minimal KB homepage, since it rested directly below the product links. To fix it, I put the footer inside of a div. ...

Same problem for me with the IPAPGothic font that we use to generate Japanese PDFs. Right-clicking the font and selecting "Install for all users" fixed it for me too. THANK YOU!

Re: How Should I Create Tables with Header Columns?
To clarify, you use your custom row when you need to add extra "header" rows later in your table, correct? Exactly! We don't use this very often, but there are a few cases where we need a row to appear as if it's a "header" row. But as you mentioned with the header columns, this...

I'm currently using both q and Highlight and have the Strip query parameters out of URL unchecked. This works for me.

Re: How Should I Create Tables with Header Columns?
In our table styles, I added a custom column style for this. After applying the table style, you can right-click the column and select the custom column style. While not completely automated, it does prevent the need for inline formatting. (I also added a custom row style that mimics the appearance ...

Re: Externally referencing project resources
At some point we may be moving to Git. Does anyone know if Git submodules would be an alternative to the Flare global project linking / manual import methods? As mentioned above, we currently use SVN externals to bypass Flare completely for importing our global files into our local/child projects, a...

Re: Bookmarks in HTML5 output do not display correctly
We don't have the search bar in our master page, but do have the same problem with bookmark links jumping to just below the heading where the bookmark is located, and obscuring the heading text. I wonder if this is a general bug with bookmarks in HTML5?

Re: flprj file not created when importing from chm
I'm not sure what may be happening with the Robohelp import, as it's been a long time since I went through that process. Here are a few other options that you could try - but I can't guarantee they will be any better/cleaner! :) I've used these methods when importing CHMs produced using tools other ...

Re: Turn OFF Track Changes. NO TRACKING please
@sds - I have also accidentally hit the Track Changes hotkey in the past and ran into similar issues with changes not appearing in the output. Then I later realized what happened, accepted all changes, and resaved/committed the changes. It was very aggravating.

Re: Externally referencing project resources
We have taken a different approach, where we use SVN externals in our local projects, and these map to the our "Global" project. This allows us to bypass the Flare manual import completely. The manual import within Flare was always a problem because: -The timestamp issue that Dave mentione...

Re: Google Analytics - Site Search - query parameter?
Hi Dave - which did you end up using? For one site, we're using Highlight and this works. But as you mention, it only works when a customer clicks on a search result. For another site, we have the query parameter set to ?q= and aren't getting any results. Should this simply be q instead?

Re: GPL confusion - why are things being overwritten?
Are the local files that should be overwritten in a read-only state? If so, the import will appear to work but will actually silently fail. You could try getting a lock / checkout the entire project (making all files read-write) and then retry the import. (I often found this easier than hand-picking...

Control Device Width Media Queries from Stylesheet?
We use global project linking for all shared assets between projects (.css, skins, variables, page layouts, master pages, etc.). Within all of our HTML5 target files on the Skin tab, Use device width media queries is checked. Is there a way to override this setting using a globally-linked file (hope...

It's been a while since we investigated Prettify. At the time, we decided it wasn't a good fit for us, since we use multi-channel publishing, and Prettify wasn't supported in PDF.

Re: Responsive Layout pane greyed out
I ran into the same problem, but setting the Layout to Web didn't fix it for me.
The only way I could get this pane to not be grayed out was to use the default medium in the stylesheet.

Re: Formatted JSON Data in a Topic
Here is the method we use: 1. Within the XML Editor for the topic (and not the Text Editor), select pre from the Style list to insert a pre tag into the topic. 2. Copy the code. 3. Paste the code inside the pre tag. When pasted, each line will be pasted as separate paragraphs. 4. To change the paste...

Re: Applying language-specific CSS
In our projects, we include both English and translated stylesheets to handle this scenario. For example, our English stylesheet is GlobalEN.css and our Japanese stylesheet is GlobalJA.css. The GlobalEN.css includes all the style definitions for all mediums. Then we include only the language-specifi...

Script to Overwrite Topic Titles in HTML5 for Analytics?
To help with Google Analytics, we'd like to overwrite the default Topic Title that's defined in our generated HTML5 topics to use the following format: [Product Line] - [Topic Title] - Documentation | [Company Name] We use global project linking, of sorts, where we have a "global" project ...

Re: Stop auto-checking for updates?
I would like to disable this as well. We have to test each new version of Flare and then roll it out to our TeamCity build agents before writers install it to their machines (so all writers and build agents are on the same version). With the increased number of incremental Flare releases, we often d...

Re: Different font for translated content
For our projects, we have an English .css and then localized .css files that reference the English .css as an import. The localized .css files then only contain the differences from the English (usually this is font type, localized auto text, etc.), and rarely changes. This might be an option for yo...

It's been a while since I've worked with Lingo, but I believe you would have to export a new Flare project from Lingo each time.
