I've got an odd question but am hoping someone here may have run into a similar problem and come up with a creative solution.
We have a single Flare Help project, out of which we generate multiple HTML5 Help systems (which share some topics, and have many unique topics). At the moment when we ...

Re: specifying "straight quotes" in style sheet?
Thanks for the input. This confirms that I hadn't missed anything.
FWIW, the smart quotes setting in Flare doesn't really figure into this for us - we never enable it. But we're still getting smart quotes in our monospaced font styles when writers copy/paste from email (Outlook) or docs that ...

specifying "straight quotes" in style sheet?
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to define a style (either character or paragraph - we use both for "code") that converts any smart quotes to straight quotes. Currently (I'm on Flare 10.2.0) we are sometimes ending up with smart quotes in our code samples in HTML Help, and ideally I'd like Flare to switch ...

Re: Madcap elements in html tag
I realize this is a very old post, but we're running into the same issue and wonder if anyone has figured a way around the problem.
To recap: the MadCap:lastBlockDepth , MadCap:lastHeight , and MadCap:lastWidth values are seen as changes in our source code and our TFS merges require manual ...

Re: Exit code for madbuild.exe?
Hoping to help someone else (and avoid an unnecessary feature request to Madcap), the v9 documentation includes a (more) complete list of error codes listed under the "ErrorLevel global variable" dropdown:

Re: modifying stop-words list -- is it possible?
For anyone who is interested -- I just heard from Madcap Support that this is not currently possible.
They did enter a feature request (32343) for this capability.
best regards,
paul

modifying stop-words list -- is it possible?
I'm looking for a way to modify the "Stop-Words" list that Flare uses in Webhelp output.
What I'd like to do is add a few words that are specific to our software (the app name, for example). I've been working to refine/improve the results returned by the Webhelp search, and have discovered that our ...

Re: v4.1.18 Background:System.AccessViolationException
I'd drop support a note. I am sure they can hook you up with the desired link.
Unfortunately I've run into the same problem and phoned support. They tell me that there is no way they can provide me with a link to a download of the pre-updated version, so I'm stuck until they come up with ...

Re: Flare v4.1 Released
I'm seeing both the magic disappearing text, and the SQL error (fixed by a restart).
I'm running XP pro (32-bit), SP3
IE7 (default browser) and FF3.
Now attempting to roll back to previous Flare version.

Re: Add New Topic w/ v4 -- "not a valid folder name"
Hi Ramon,
thanks for the reply.
Yes, it *is* for a network path, and I don't have any problem getting there (or referencing it by typing it manually).
My problem now is that I haven't found a way to get that Add New Topic dialog to change the default path it uses.
It always defaults to a path ...

Re: Add New Topic w/ v4 -- "not a valid folder name"
Just spoke to MadCap support and got the following. I'm posting in case it helps someone else, though they suggested to me that I'm the only one who has or will run into this issue:
As of v4, Flare doesn't handle file paths that begin with "file://..."
So what works in v3.x doesn't work in v4 ...

I've run into something I have not found an answer to:

Managing source/version control? How're you doing it?
I'm looking for some collective wisdom from the users of Flare.
How are you managing source and version control for your help projects?
We had hoped to use the built-in Flare-TFS integration but it's not going to work for us due to our multiple code branches and a need for multiple TFS workspaces ...

Re: Flare and TFS workspaces
Hi Richard,
thanks for the reply and the clarification. At least we now know we're not going to be able to do what we wanted.
I'll be posting a new thread asking what other folks are doing to manage source/version control with Flare.

Nope, logging on using the same user account from a single computer and switching workspaces within TFS.

Thanks for the replies.
I definitely have learned that you don't want to bind the project in Flare too early! I've done so 4 or 5 times so far (we're working with a converted RoboHelp project) and have had to delete and readd in TFS.... it's not been pretty.

Flare and TFS workspaces
I'm trying to get Flare to work with TFS and have been struggling now for several weeks. It seems to be the case that Flare will only work when we let *it* define the TFS workspace, and only if there are no other workspaces defined. I'm hoping someone else out there has found a way to get it working ...

Re: Internal error: object reference not set...
I too was getting this error after I'd moved some images in my imported RoboHelp project. Apparently the images included one that was being used in my Related Topics control (?). Because I've been moving slowly with this conversion and saving backups as I've gone, I was able to isolate the issue and ...
