Re: Preview Issue
<sarcasm>WONDERFUL</sarcasm>
I tried your suggestion and the Test project didn't have the problem. Thank you for your help in isolatingthe problem. It may be the Master Page because I don't have a Page Layout set for this project.
I may have to recreate the master page and see what happens.

Preview Issue
I clicked the Preview Compiled Topic icon in Flare 5 and got a funky error.
Failed to Compile document: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
What does this mean? It worked just last week!

Pending Check-Ins menu issues
Hey all,
I'm currently using MadCap Flare 5 on Windows Vista. I'm also using MS VSS for version control. Before we upgraded to Vista (and MadCap Flare 5, consequently), I was able to view the files I had checked out of VSS on the Pending Check-Ins menu of MadCap Flare. Now however, all I get is a ...

Nita,
Apparently the .xml file is something created by Flare during the build process of that target, so I can't really condition it out. :-(
All other output types are not a problem, but due to the nature of this Help System and the printed output, I need to modify it in Word before making the ...

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'll check with our Desktop admins about my permissions. Unfortunately, I am the VSS guru.

I may post a bug report on this, but it didn't happen until my organization started using Group Policy settings to control administrator access to the local workstations.

I have done that several times and all to no avail. Do I need administrator permissions on my box to use this feature?

Pending Check-Ins Issue with VSS and Flare V5
Hey all,
I'm having some issues with Flare V5 and VSS. Basically, I work in the help system and check out files with no problem. When I go to the Pending Check-ins menu, it displays nothing. All of my files are still checked out, but it's not displaying anything at all. I click refresh and still ...

Re: Internal Compile Error
For some reason, unknown to me, I am unable to save the error log as a file. Regardless, it looks as if the filepath was too long. Funny, I haven't changed with filename or path and it compiled perfectly until now. Anyway, my issue is resolved. Thanks though.

Hey all. I've been working on this Mimic Project for what seems like an eternity, but I'm under the gun and need help ASAP.
I've got a project of 19 movies and after what seems like the millonth compile, it simply will not compile any more. It goes through the motions but then throws an error. It ...

Flare 5 Start Page Error
I just installed Flare 5 yesterday and must say that the enhancements you've made are outstanding! Love the color added to the XML code. But enough gushing :)
My issue is more annoyance than problem. Whenever I open Flare 5, I get an error stating "Failed to run Command 'Start Page'. Exception ...

I'm using Mimic version 2.0.11 and have created a Project with 19 movies in it. When the doo-hickey compiles, everything works fine. However, our Project Manager has one minor annoyance that I can't answer.

Well, I *would* do that, but like I said...my C drive won't hold them. I mean literally, i'd have 10 MB left and that causes Windows all sorts of problems.

Re: MadCap Cross Functionality Issues
sorry, I also meant to post that I'm using Flare 3.1 and Mimic 2.0.11. I installed the trial version of Mimic on my C:\ drive but due to space issues, I uninstalled both Flare and Mimic from my C: drive and onto my D: drive. D is also a local drive on my box.
