Assigning CSH identifiers to specific bookmarks in topics...
According to the Help, there should be a bookmark icon above the Identifier list, but there isn't.
Bookmarks which were assigned in an earlier version are still there, but I can't add new ones when assigning a topic.

Re: Bookmarks in nested dropdowns: Curious jumps
More details:
In addition to jumping to the higher-level-dropdown, the position that the topic scrolls to is determined BEFORE the dropdown is opened ... makes it even worse.
Will post a bug for this.
There's another problem here too - if the link to the bookmark is from a Related Topics control ...

Closing Drop-downs
Some of my drop-downs are rather long, and I would like to be able to put a control at the end to close it up again, rather than the user having to scroll back to where they were - please, is there a way of doing this?

Re: McAfee Hijacked Flare 5.1 update
I must say I'm unimpressed with McAfee, I've got a 3 machine licence and it keeps wanting to install on other machines it can see on the network, but I'm leaving my free virus program on the other machines, it plays much nicer.

I, too, have reported this issue to both McAfee and Madcap.
After a suggestion from Madcap Rob, I've been able to get the installation to 'stick'.

Re: McAfee Hijacked Flare 5.1 update
I had the same issue, bin McAfee if you can. It's the latest DAT update (on the 27th) that apparently triggered it - as when I rolled back to 5.0 it still thought it was a trojan despite it being perfectly happy with it for months. http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10049

McAfee Hijacked Flare 5.1 update
I've just downloaded and run the Flare 5.1 update..... and McAfee said it had detected a Trojan, which it then removed.

Re: Customize Help Viewer???
It is a complaint since day 1 and I, too, cannot understand why MadCap is so stubborn with this issue. One argument was the advertising effect, but the vast majority of consumers of online help are not technical writers and no matter how much ads they see will never buy anything from MadCap, since ...

Re: AIR Option - Install Folder
I know most help authors really dislike HTML Help (CHM) but I'll say one thing for it: it works, and getting it to behave isn't an exercise in masochism (at least as long as you leave merged CHMs and links to external files out of it....) If you're installing locally to Windows-only, I find that it ...

If you haven't already, let Madcap know about the situation here:

Yes, I'll do that. Thanks Kevin.
I agree that this is a triumph of marketing over intelligence.
Triumph of the marketing department perhaps, but consequences not as intended

I am as confused as you at the moment, but what I know for sure is that you do not want to specify a direct path anyway. What happens if someone has the Program Files folder on the D: drive? I recommend dropping MadCap support a line and have them clarify what this all means.

Re: 4.1.40 Update Released
Try setting WebHelp as your primary target. I'm not suggesting not to build to AIR, but it's possible that something in the AIR code isn't agreeing with the preview system. Webhelp should be more predictable in that regard (and should look the same as the AIR output for the most part).
Good Idea ...
