Re: Not able to resize popup window for link from image map
Thanks for testing this, Nina. I was linking to an image, so didn't run into the problem you described with text wrapping. However, I would be interested if you find a fix for that, just in case we need at some point to link to a topic with text.

Re: Custom window size for image map/hyperlink popups
I wasn't able to get the method described in this post to work, so I contacted MadCap Technical support who provided a different workaround.
I have documented that workaround here:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=27724
Hope this is helpful.

Re: Not able to resize popup window for link from image map
I contacted MaCap technical support regarding resizing image map popup. They confirmed that the solution in the following post no longer works. I don't know why, but I couldn't get it to work and neither could they. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5518&p=29471&hilit=style+class+image+maps#p29471 He...

Not able to resize popup window for link from image map
I have followed the instructions in the following post to set a custom style for a popup window used for a link in an image map: https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5518&p=29471&hilit=style+class+image+maps#p29471 To summarize: I created the html.popup_autosize style c...

Re: Best practices for search - partial search or no?
Thanks, Jose and Lydia for your useful suggestions on how to make the required number of characters evident to users. We have gone back and forth on whether to implement the partial search feature. The build time for the war file seems to be the show stopper. It is taking too long (over an hour) and...

Best practices for search - partial search or no?
We generate HTML5 output and are evaluating our settings for the search. Currently, we have not enabled partial search. We are aware that compile time and output size will go up with this feature enabled. We have tested using a minimum character entry of 8, as this seemed to be a compile time and se...

Re: Using points or pixels for font-size in Web-based output?
Thanks, Dave for your reply. I had been trying to pinpoint all the topics that have nested styles, but reading your post, I realized that just removing the font specification from all but a few styles that vary would be an easier way to tackle the problem. And thanks for the information about the va...

Using points or pixels for font-size in Web-based output?
We have a large Help system that we generate as HTML 5. We are updating our CSS which currently specifies font-size in points. The only problem we are aware of is that the Text Resize command in IE doesn't work. I tested switching to ems which did enable the Text Resizing, but it also created enlarg...

Re: Creating a copyright notice at the bottom of each HTML topic
Thank you so much, Nita, for your response. Based on what you said, I just set up a Master Page with the copyright info below the body proxy, associated the Master Page with the HTML5 Target, compiled the Help, and voila the copyright is showing up on each topic!

Creating a copyright notice at the bottom of each HTML topic
We have several projects that we merge when we build our Help system. Our output is HTML5. There are about four thousand topics in all. We now have a need to put a copyright notice at the bottom of each topic. I didn't find anything in the Help that addressed this for HTML files (everything I found ...

Re: HTML5 Glossary Issue
I contacted Flare support about this and wanted to share the way to handle the glossary not loading in case anyone else has this issue. The issue can occur if you are merging subprojects to create your output. Our project has a master project and 3 subprojects that are merged using TOC links. We hav...

Re: HTML5 Glossary Issue
I am testing HTML5 and am experiencing this same glossary problem: in the HTML5 output, the glossary file doesn't load and the spinner keeps spinning. The glossary is built by linking to topics, rather than by entering the definition into the glossary file. My output does include merged TOCs from 3 ...

OK, I see: if I am working on my local desktop I can disable the Auto-reimport before generate output settings, or avoid generating ouput on my local desktop.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Placing subproject topics into the Master Project TOC
Hi David, Thanks for your counterpoint. This is helping me think the process out. I would like to check the import file into source control so that we are using the same backup system for all files. We do sometimes work at home, and I do work off my local desktop when I am at home - the other author...

Re: Placing subproject topics into the Master Project TOC
Thanks so much for this useful information. I just have a few questions: You advise not to check imported content into source control. What problems are created if you do check this imported content in? Is checking the import file (.flimpfl) into source control not advised becasue this file is large...

Placing subproject topics into the Master Project TOC
We build WebHelp from a master project and a subproject. We insert the Subproject into the Master Project's TOC. We would now like to also place some topics from the subproject on the Master Project TOC in another location (separate from and in addition to the location where the whole project is bou...

Re: How to control Window size for context-sensitive Help topics
Thanks, Bob. That info is helpful (we don't want any dancing in the initial Help display!) I will talk to our developers about this now that I know there is no easy solution using Flare settings.

How to control Window size for context-sensitive Help topics
Our WebHelp system uses URL calls to create context-sensitive Help. I am wondering how to control the size of the window that a CSH topic opens in.
Is there a parameter in the skin file (flskn) file that controls this?
Thanks for your help.

Re: CONTROLLING POPUP SIZE
Thank you. This has been helpful. I don't have a.popup class in my project, but when I checked, no popups in the project are selected to the popup class (just popup window). Maybe that's why the popup style is not showing up? I will research whether there is a way to globablly change the popups to t...

Re: Styling glossary links
Thanks for the quick response. Since I hadn't changed these styles in the proper order, I opened the style sheet in the internal editor and put them in the proper order, but when I compile, the links are still purple when visited, underlined in every form (link, visited, focus and hover), and have n...

CONTROLLING POPUP SIZE
I would like to increase the default size of the popups in my WebHelp project. I searched the forums and read that mc-popup-height and mc-popup-width properties in the stylesheet were the way to change this. I am looking under Popup/Unclassified and I don't see those properites. There is a mc-min-he...

Styling glossary links
I am new to Flare and have just added a Glossary as an accordion tab in my WebHelp output. I have added all my glossary terms as links to topics. The glossary terms are blue and turn prurple once the link has been visited. I would like the link to remain blue when it is visited and to turn red when ...
