Re: p.note with left image and indented text

I apologize if this was already answered. I have done this creating a p.note tag. See the old posts at http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4414 . You may have to play with the initial style to get the margins, padding and image setup just right. But once you do, you can just co...

Image path linking to wrong images in PDF output

Some of my image links are linking to the wrong image sub-folder when I build a PDF output. While this might be related to using similar file names, this is not occurring for all image links. It seems odd, since this is not happening in the preview or in the WebHelp output. I have a ticket into MadC...

Re: How do you duplicate topics in Flare?

Ah...yes, I am a big fan of snippets if you are trying to duplicate content in more than once place. We have some snippets that are used in 5 places. I follow the process of not including the H1 in the snippet so that the H1 can be associated properly for each location to the TOC. It has saved us a ...

Re: How do you duplicate topics in Flare?

If I am understanding your question, you want a topic template. To do this, you need to go into your flare project folder and into the Content folder. Copy the topic.htm file you want to use as a template. Then go to your My Documents folder. You should have a folder in there called My Templates . I...

Re: Is it worth it?

We started source control mainly for the versioning ability that source control helps with and also because we had several resources all working out of the same core project/TOC files/CSS. We use SVN with the PushOK plug-in. No issues. Now, we have reduced our resources to just one; however, I still...

Re: Oh please Help Me. Only odd page numbers appear in print

Hi! If you haven't already resolved, go to the page layout and like another person suggested, if you only have a single page layout that is a problem. You need to have a page in your layout that has the Right page type (odd page); Left page type (even page) and if you want there to be an empty page ...

Re: Where to start?

Hi! It really matters how you set the TOC properties for the entries. I had to play around a bit when I started working on my print version of my documentation. We plan to print double-sided, so I had to make sure all of my new topics started on the Right (odd) page. You probably also need to make s...

Re: Mysterious _Gen_

I am just going to start seriously getting ready for setting up a printed version of my huge project, and I have the gen bookmarks too. It is the H1 that I've used in more than one instance. Good suggestion! As soon as I saw that in the thread, I knew that was my issue! THANKS! :D

Re: Auto Save? Please?

Save - save - save. If you are a Word user, you know that even with the autosave set at the absolute most frequent, you can still lose files and hours of work. I had a problem with one of my old computers that cost me hours and days of lost work. Auto save was useless with the problems I was having....

Re: Tables for notes, tips, etc.

I know this is long past when you asked for help here, but we use icons to symbolize Note, Info, etc. I creted Paragraph style settings for each that have the exact pic, and background, font type and margins we want. I also created a similar generic one with the background but without the Icon pic s...

Re: GIF screenshots not readable

One other thing to consider is your PC's screen resolution, windows settings, including windows display properties for active, inactive etc. title bars. I have been struggling and made some corrections to the resolution and to my fonts and windows settings and experienced a 500% improvement in my sc...

Re: New Book on MadCap Flare

This is currently in the works. Progress is a bit slow since I have a 40+ hour 'real' job, but I think we are getting in good shape to give this project some more momentum. This is great news. I would love to be notified once the book is available in English. I know my management team would be more...

Re: Attempt to rename topics causing error

Paula, This happened to me with some Flare projects that were imported Word docs. We are not sure if it was caused by .NET Framework errors I was going through due to a corrupted install, caused by my 'decrypting' the files via our encryption software or if it was just related to unrecognizable obje...
