Re: Uploading to Madcap Central using command line Git

I ran the git command setting up the global ssl backend:

git config --global http.sslbackend schannel

Then it worked.

Re: Project linking: Importing all files required by one tar

Many thanks for your tip. With the workflow, however, you have to be very careful that you never forget to sort or mark new files accordingly, for example. The risk of overlooking something is simply too great for me. That's why I found the "Auto-Include" option so interesting. There is al...

Project linking: Importing all files required by one target

Hello, I have a master project with various targets. Now I want to create a child project which only contains one of the targets (PDF target) and only the files required to build this single target. The import file has a pretty useful option for this: "Auto-include linked files". If I just...

Re: Flare 12: PDF output unusable!

Update: The reason for my initially described PDF issues were related to the page layouts. Flare obviously has a bug when handling parameter values which include a decimal separator and when using different regional settings. In my case (German system), there was a mixture of "comma" and &...

Flare 12: PDF output unusable!

Hello, yesterday I installed Flare 12 and generated outputs of some of my Flare 11 projects. The online targets were mostly ok, but the PDFs are catastrophic! Some pages are empty, content missing TOC is defective, produces "graphics errors" in Acrobat Borders of divs and tables look horri...

Re: HTML5 Glossary Issue with Internet Explorer 8 and 9

I have the very same problem, but I also need to be compatible with IE8.
How can I get the glossary popups working (or at least readable) in IE8???

Any ideas welcome...

The ability to paste images directly from the clipboard which are then inserted and saved as image files is also a very nice feature.

Release Notes for Flare 7.2?

Hi, could you please post detailed release notes for the recently published Flare 7.2 update? There is nothing available in the KB yet.

Thanks, JJ

Use TOC depth for heading levels

Regarding the problem of different heading levels, this can easily be solved if you enable the corresponding option in your print target. Format all your topics starting with an h1 heading. Depending on the position of the topic in the TOC, Flare will then change the heading level automatically, e.g...

Re: Small caps not working with Flare 6

MadCap's reply to my bug report: "Our developers are still taking a look at this issue. It's been placed on top priority and we should have something available within the next month. Unfortunately I don't know when it will be finalized. I will let you know as soon as there is a patch or update ...

Re: Small caps not working with Flare 6

Thanks for your workaround - it works! However, just like you, I would have to update many headings manually. Furthermore, many of these headings include variables, and then things would become complicated... Yes, please contact support and urge them to do something about it. For people using small ...

Re: Small caps not working with Flare 6

@LTinker68: No, the source code looks fine... I have contacted MadCap Technical Support and they have filed it as a bug. The more people complain, the sooner it will be fixed - so please submit a report if you also experience this problem. Until this is fixed, I will have to stick with 5.1... JJ

Small caps not working with Flare 6

Since upgrading to Flare 6, formatting text with "small caps" does not work anymore in my projects. Capital letters with this format are displayed in the same size as the "small capital letters" but with a margin on the right. The format is displayed correctly if I enter NEW TEXT...

Re: Topic files should not appear in output

I have one topic in my HTML Help project (description for a service dialog) which should only be accessable via a CSH link from within the software (so that only the service engineer can see it, not the customer). I want to avoid that the topic is found by the HTML Help search function (which needs ...

Re: Tables Lose Formatting When Content Changes

I have the same problem with my tables: As soon as I edit the content (i.e. delete something) all formatting is gone. I am using a table style for cell formatting (borders, fonts etc.) and an additional table class for setting the width and a left margin. Very strange behaviour, in my opinion. And t...

Re: Flare 4: Reducing .chm file size

Also, if you specify a value for the max-width, you might also want to set max-height to "auto" -- that'll keep the aspect ratio of the image when it's resized. If you only specify a "max-width" (in contrast to "width"!), the aspect ratio is automatically kept the same...

Re: Flare 4: Reducing .chm file size

But since Flare 4, there is the new and beautiful parameter " max-width " which can be applied to images (combined with the option in the HTMLhelp target to create a nicely resampled, clean new version of the image). For the record, max-width is a CSS style that's been around for awhile. ...

Flare 4: Reducing .chm file size

After inserting a few topics with screen shots in a project, the resulting .chm file can become very large.
