Re: Cannot get air installation package to generate
Our group has been looking in to this for a while and I think we have some information that may help people. Someone on our team discovered that if they tried to generate AIR while not connnected to our corporate network (though they still had internet) it works. If you are having this problem, try...

Re: Beginner crying for more help
I'll try and help with the first. In order to include the page numbers (i.e. See Installing XXX on page 25) you will need to use cross references, not hyperlinks. When you insert a cross reference, the Insert Cross-reference screen comes up. Under Cross-reference Properties , Click New . This is whe...

Re: Setting a Condition for a Style
If the <p> style should only show up in Printed output, here's what I'd do: 1. Use the Print medium for your printed output (set the stylesheet medium on the Advanced tab of your target setup). 2. Set the style as "display: none" for all other mediums (non-print, or whatever others you've...

Setting a Condition for a Style
Hi, I think I'm missing something obvious here. Would like to know if there is a better way to handle chapter numbering in our print outputs. We currently use a paragraph style with just a number in it and condition that p to print output only. It's not a big deal, but we have to add this conditione...

This would be better to see if possible. Can you post a screenshot of your TOC and a screenshot of the properties (Printed Output and Autonumber sections) for each of the problem topics?

Re: Page Layout not "taking"
HI, Are you linking your Page layouts to the Page layouts in a Global Project? I was having this same issue for a long time. I solved it by creating page layouts in the original, then linking to the layouts in the global project (which effectively overrides the page layouts you just created). I'm no...

Re: V3 - Can't get the Flare Print Format to work
Hi McCarthy, I notice not a peep on your issue in three months. I'm having the same issue. I selected "Enable Print Format" and chose 300 for the Print DPI, but nothing changed in the output. Did you get any resolution? -Matt Hi Matt, Well actually I've got it working now. Probably should...

Re: I don't quite understand Snippets
I haven't used global project linking at this stage (haven't needed it for my purposes), but in a stand alone project what you would do is store the snippets in your Snippets folder under Content\Resources. If you needed to make a change, you would open the snippet, change the content, then save it...

I don't quite understand Snippets
Hi, We use Global Project linking for things like topics that we reuse, logos, and page layouts. We have a situation here were there is one topic (that is almost identical for every writer except for a couple of screenshots and a few names. From what I understand about snippets, this would be an ide...

Re: Is it possible to have a Global Glossary?
You can't put condition tags on glossary entries, or even parts of them, can you? (It would be great if you could.) It's not possible as far as i know. But this mention of condition tags refers the request for a Global Glossary mentioned above, and then the ability to condition the entries you woul...

Re: Is it possible to have a Global Glossary?
I've put in a request in the past (I think) asking for the ability to apply conditional tags to glossary terms. I don't have my glossary terms in the topics, just in the glossary pane (or glossaryProxy), so I'd like to be able to condition out the terms that don't apply to specific versions of the ...

Re: Is it possible to have a Global Glossary?
You could make a Flare project with just the glossary in it and import it to the other flare projects that use it so that you have one centralized place to edit it. As you can have the glossary be updated every single build it should be relatively easily. You can find this functionality under the i...

Is it possible to have a Global Glossary?
Hello, Would like to know if there is a way to have a global glossary and just select the entries you need to appear in your project. We have a problem where we are trying to consolidate all terms and definitions used in our documentation. normally it's through a wiki, but with Flare now, it would m...

Re: Cross references as hyperlinks in Word printed output
Hi tana,
As far as I know, the 'on page xx' for print only is available for cross references, not hyperlinks. Is there a reason why you would like to use hyperlinks and not cross references? Cross references give you a bit more flexibility I think.

V3 - Can't get the Flare Print Format to work
Hi, I must be missing something completely obvious here. I right click the large image in Flare and selected edit with Capture. In capture, I enable flare print format and set the size to 1 inch by 1 inch to test it (the original size is about 5in x 5 in). I saved and went back into Flare, but could...

Background images not appearing in PDF output
Hi,
I'm having this problem for PDF output only. I have the background image set for the Note style in the Print medium. Looks like this in online outputs: Can't get it to appear in PDF output though. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Re: Alignment in Numbered/Bulleted Lists with Images
Try creating a custom <img> class, set its vertical-align property to "middle", then apply that custom class to the image. Depending on how tall the image is and how much padding/margin you have between line items, that may result in the text on the line above or below being separated fro...

Re: Global Project Linking - How do I remove links to images?
You said you "accidentally" linked images to the Master project. So I thought, in the next re-import, the image files were no more in the file list "Include Files". In fact, for now, I have not seen the interest of the "Removed links" list... I prefer organizing my pro...

Re: Global Project Linking - How do I remove links to images?
Hello McCarthy, Perhaps it is quite late, but I had an idea regarding the linked images. Rename the linked image in the child project. A dialog box asks if you want to remove or keep links to this image : it depends on your project. After the image has been renamed, it is no more linked to the Mast...

Re: Autonumbering (yet again)
Here's a portion of my stylesheet. The first set of styles sets up how figure captions display in online output -- notice there is no auto-numbering involved. The second set of styles are inside the print media portion of the stylesheet, so they're the styles used for print output. p.captionFig { f...

Re: Autonumbering (yet again)
To the best of my knowledge it's an HTML thing. You could add code in to set the numbering to a specific number, but that would defeat the purpose of numbering things automatically. To be honest, I don't reference images outside of the topic at all - instead, I include the image in any topic where ...

Re: Autonumbering (yet again)
In HTML output there isn't really a sequence for figures between topics, since readers don't have to go through the system in a linear fashion. (Yes, you have a table of contents that provides a sequence, but very few readers will actually follow it in that order.) As a result, when you use autonum...

Re: Autonumbering (yet again)
There are two mediums, "print" and "non-print" - it sounds like you have autonumbering set in both, whereas you probably just want it in your print medium. If you open the style sheet in notepad or the internal text editor you can see them both by searching for "@media prin...
