Re: Flare 2021: "Links used in header or footer frame" PDF W
I am seeing this also. Like the others, I have variables in my footer. I wouldn't expect this to produce an error.

Re: Error 10083: The process cannot access the file
For me, the Adobe process that was causing the issue was the Adobe Connection Synchronizer. Ending that task in the Task Manager enabled me to immediately and successfully restart my PDF build. It appeared twice in the Task Manager, but when I ended the first one, it removed both processes. From som...

Re: Build Terminates Instantly
This just happened to me. It seemed to coincide with an IT change to our anti-virus software, but I can't confirm that was the exact issue. However, rebooting the computer resolved the issue.

Re: Any suggestions for creating a workflow-like topic?
One suggestion would be to create the workflows in PowerPoint just as you did before to create empty arrows and forms (leaving plenty of room for the international text), and save the image. Then open the image in Capture to create text boxes with your source text, which it will overlay onto your im...

Re: Issues redirecting to the correct help pages
I had a similar issue to this but it was not related to the upgrade (at least, i don't think it was). It occurred after I merged two different Flare projects into a single project. I merged a smaller project into my primary project and afterwards, only the context-sensitive links in the smaller proj...

Re: TocEntry - Styles - Skin Editor
If I understand your question correctly, it may be that you are looking for the wrong thing. I am also using HTML5 Side Nav output. In the skin, under Side Navigation, there is an option for Side Navigation Menu Item. What I did was put a 1px colored bottom border under the Side Navigation Menu Item...

Re: filter files by Path in the File List filter?
Sorting by path, as Nita suggested, is probably the easiest way to do it in Lingo. Optionally, you could sort by path, and then multi-select the files that are all in the same path and create a translation bundle from the selection. You would then open the translation bundle in a new instance of Lin...

Re: Translation Memory and Reuse
Within individual projects, the snippets only have to be translated once. When you send the Lingo project for translation, the snippet file can be included in the translation bundle, so even if it is used 100 times in the project, it only has to be translated one time. I'm not quite sure how to answ...

Re: Lingo Exporting to Another Lingo Project Instead of Flar
Thanks, Casey. Support confirmed this. "This is occurring because the copy of the project that you are attempting to export from is not the original project. It is not possible to export to the original source from an liprjzip copy of the original project." In my case, the translator sent ...

Re: "Failed to convert to PDF Font:"
I am getting the same message on my PDF outputs and am also not using MS Gothic or Helvetica. I am also using Windows 10 (which was updated from 8.1), but can't say for sure if the messages coincided with making that update.

Re: 403 Forbidden. Protocol Error with Google Translate API
I was just doing some testing of this feature and ran across the same problem. The translation appeared to be working initially but then 403 errors started happening intermittently. After about 10 minutes, I was only seeing 403 errors and no translations coming across. A search of Google's developer...

Re: [object event] Error
I was having this exact same issue. I was able to resolve it by doing the following: From the Movie tab, click Properties. Single File Output should be selected (at least, it is for me). On the Movie output tab, select HTML5 as the Default Output, and then click HTML5 Options. Ensure that both WebM ...

Re: 'Failed to copy linked file' error
I had this same thing happen. I opened the text editor to manually adjust the path for my image files on a group of topics I'd copied from another project. In doing so, I inadvertently included an extra backslash. A path that should have started "../Resources/Images" was instead "..//...

Re: How to add conditions to scripts in masterpages
Lisa--thanks for the suggestion! I had considered that, but I was hoping to avoid multiple master pages for the reasons Msquared mentions.
Msquared--the variable option is an interesting one. I'll need to play with that a bit to see if it works.
Thanks!

Re: How to add conditions to scripts in masterpages
Thanks! I only want to put conditions on a section of the masterpage, not the entire page. There are other components of the masterpage that I want to be available in all topics. I want the condition to only apply to specific target outputs so that I can build each output with a specific script incl...

How to add conditions to scripts in masterpages
Hello! I am hoping someone has a tip that can help me accomplish this task. We've been asked to include Google Analytics scripts with our Help outputs. There are separate scripts for each output. I want these scripts in my masterpages so I don't have to manually add them to each individual topic. Ho...

Using Flare V4 and V5 on the same machine
We typically do some preliminary testing on copies of our projects before moving from one version of Flare to another. However, extra machines for testing aren't always easy to come by. I know that Flare V3 and V4 could be run on the same machine with no problems. Is the same thing true for Flare V4...

Re: Broken Links Even After Flare 'Updates Files"
I've seen that happen as well. I think it helps to save and close all documents before renaming folders or files. It may also make a difference how you created your links, but I haven't confirmed that. Linking to topics within the same folder is quick and easy, but I suspect it may introduce other p...

Re: Primary target isn't being saved
I think we've found the issue. It isn't quite true that we check in the entire project. Our build team is creating the Help builds for us, and they've asked us to delete the Output and Project\Users folders from our project before we check our files into TFS. Apparently, when this occurs, Flare lose...

Re: Multiple projects w/cross-project links, or single project
Thanks to Steve and Dave for their insight. We still need to do some testing to figure out how to make the project links work. I think the links will need to work both ways, so a single project may be our best option. We've gotten push-back from development and install regarding having multple outpu...

Re: Multiple projects w/cross-project links, or single project
Thanks, Paul. I appreciate your input. The real issue I need to solve is whether I can share topics across projects. For example, I may have a series of topics on security that will apply to multiple projects, so I want to store those in a master project but have links to those topics from the sub-p...

Multiple projects w/cross-project links, or single project
Is it better to have multiple Help projects as individual projects, or to combine them into a single project? I am working with three other writers on a Flare project with WebHelp output. The source files are stored in Team Foundation Server. Currently, we are using version 3.1, but shortly will be ...

Re: Primary target isn't being saved
Thanks for the suggestion. I've been doing that, but it doesn't make any difference. I'm not sure where exactly this information is stored in Flare, but I'm checking in the entire project and it still isn't saving the primary build information. It's not a huge deal, just a minor nuisance.
