Re: Avoiding the "Start Page"
I set up my project's filename in File>Startup File and closed the Start Page. Sure enough, the next time I started Flare, Start Page was gone and I was looking at my project's TOC. I love this forum!

Deleting conditional tags -- keeping or deleting the text
Hi, all, I'm fairly new to Flare conditional text. I searched the forums but couldn't find my answer. I hope I'm not duplicating... I tagged text and topics for two product versions so I could create WebHelp for both products. The company has decided to scrap one of the products. I'd like to ...

Re: How to copy and paste table data from Word into Flare?
When I copy and paste multiple table rows and columns from Word into a blank Flare 4 table, nothing appears in the Flare table. If I copy an individual cell, all is fine. I just expanded upon the suggestions above and came up with this: 1. Make a Flare table with the correct rows/columns and stylesh...

Re: How to change the background color of the glossary popup?
FYI...
I sent this one to MadCap tech support. It seems that Firefox displays glossary popup text just fine at any font size, whereas I.E. bitmaps the text in font sizes under 13 points. Live and learn.
I'll always test in both browsers from now on.

Re: Preview compiled topic - minor annoyance
I don't get an error message when I use "Preview compiled topic", but sometimes the Progress bar cycles ad infinitum. I click Cancel, save the file, and try again -- usually with success. I love this function because I can see what my changes look like without saving the file first, unlike...

Re: Add Title to Mini TOC
Thanks, all. I was also trying to figure out how to put a heading over the miniTOC and forgot to ask the forum. I added a couple of tweaks to the auto format code to make the heading the same color as my <h1>. I hope it's useful to others. mc-auto-number-format: '{b}{color #000099}Topics in t...

Re: Create a Snippet from a Table
Hi, Folks. Thanks for the assistance on the day I was struggling with this issue. :( Suggestion/reminder: Neither the topic editor nor the snippet editor are WSSIWYG. Even clicking the "Preview compiled topic" button displayed a messed up snippet. I though I had made the snippet incorrectl...

Right-margin/wrap issues in left & right frames
After I build my WebHelp output, I get two issues: 1. I click Glossary in the accordian list to display my glossary terms in the left navigation frame above. Then I click a term to display the definition. Both the list of terms and the displayed definitions wrap about half way across the frame inste...

Re: How to change the background color of the glossary popup?
I found the style as well and was able to change the background... thanks! I love this forum. :D However, even though the popup font family is the same as everything else in my help system, the text in the popup appears bitmapped whereas all other text in my help system is fine. Any thoughts? Chuck

Re: Getting an image into Flare from Word
I love Laura's method of saving the Word doc to HTML! I have one small tip. If your Word doc has many images and you only need a few, make a working copy of the Word doc and delete the content you don't need before saving as HTML. This makes it easier to find the graphics in the <docname>_files fold...

Re: Setting up lists
Thanks for the tip, Kevin.
Can anyone recommend a good (free/cheap) CSS editor that at least checks syntax before saving the file? I've been using NotePad, but I'd prefer to know if I've messed up the file before I save it.
Thanks,
Chuck

Re: Setting up lists
Hi, all, I'm a complete newbie (this is post #1) and I've been struggling with Complex Selectors. By reading these posts (thanks to all!), I finally constructed some stylesheet code I'd like to share. Below is every combination of UL and OL three levels deep. If you need to go four levels, you're on...
