Movie doesn't play in IE
We are using MadCap Mimic to create training videos that we are inserting (insert Movie Link) as Flash video into our online help system. The videos work fine in Firefox but we can't get them to work in IE. There aren't any errors generated on the page and the HTML with the skin loads correctly but ...

Remove stale files
I am trying to figure out how the "Remove stale files" feature works. In other words, does it actually remove stale files. I am publishing WebHelp. I renamed or deleted a bunch of files through Flare and then Re-build and Publish to the same directory. The new files get added correctly by the old ...

Can Mimic output a FLV file?
We have an FLV player that we use for distributing a variety of movies on our website which I'd like to re-use for our Online Help System. It doesn't work with SWF files so I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Assuming that Mimic cannot output FLV files,

Re: WebHelp: Expand TOC when linking to a topic externally
Hi Lisa,
Yes, I do have 'auto-sync TOC' enabled in the skin and it does expand the book (and highlight the selected topic) if I link to a topic within the book. Is there a way to expand the Book in the TOC so that users can see the topics within the Book? If not, I suppose I could use a mini-TOC on ...

WebHelp: Expand TOC when linking to a topic externally
We have an FAQ setup as a Book within our WebHelp system and we'd like to link directly to it from an external site. So, we're using the syntax described in the Flare Help:
<a href="MyWebHelp_CSH.htm#FAQ.htm" target="_blank">Open the FAQ</a>
and it works fine. But, we'd like the TOC to expand to ...

Re: WebHelp - Formatting mini-TOC
That worked perfectly.
FYI - I left the "list-style", "list-style-image" or "list-style-position" as "not set" and selected "circle" for the "list-style-type" and now have a great looking circle bullet list.
Thanks!

Re: Bullets in MiniTOC Proxy
Sorry for my ignorance here, but what was the correct answer to this question? I am trying to figure out (1) how to add bullets to my miniTOC links and (2) how to make the links look the same regardless of whether they have been clicked.

WebHelp - Formatting mini-TOC
I am using a mini-TOC at the top-level of each category of topics which creates an hyperlinked list of topics quite nicely. The problem I'm having is that I'd like to add a circle bullet at the beginning of each list-item. I can't figure out how to edit miniTocProxy style to add a bullet.
Any ideas?

Re: WebHelp: Where should I store a Flash Movie?
Thanks everyone for your input. This turned out to be really easy (as you all pointed out) once I understood the connection between Mimic, Flare and publishing outputs.
Cheers!

WebHelp: single output to support multiple versions
I am trying to figure out a way to host a single version of our WebHelp output that shows that appropriate content to users based on which release of our software they are using. We have the ability to pass the release number to our WebHelp output. I understand how the Conditional Text feature works ...

Thanks - I tried that and get the following error when trying to generate WebHelp output:
Code: Select all

WebHelp: Where should I store a Flash Movie?
File this one under "silly questions", but I can't figure out where to store the Flash Movie file that I want to link to from within my Online Help System. My original idea was to create a sub-folder within the Content Folder and store it there, but then Flare chokes when I generate my output. Any ...

Re: WebHelp: Using a Footer for adding copyright info
The masterpage worked like a champ. It even gave me the inspiration to add a breadcrumb to the top of every page.
Thanks!

WebHelp: Using a Footer for adding copyright info
Hello,
I am trying to create a footer (or something that works like a footer) that appears on every page of my WebHelp-based online help system. This would be used primarily to display copyright information.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
