Re: How do I change the color of a glossary term in help?
I solved this sometime back, but because of quarantine my Madcap notbook is at work. But, I did a quick experiment and I think this is correct. If you set the Styles Editor to show just Generated Content Styles you will see an anchor catatory (a), div, p, etc Expand the anchor (a) and there should b...

Team Foundation Server grinds to halt tip
I have experienced an ongoing issue with Team Foundation Server that seems to be a bug in TFS. It requires the server admin to restart or reset the server because "OWSTImer.exe had the RAM pegged again" according to my admin. When this happens, Flare just grinds to a halt. It also happens ...

Re: Centering an image in a table cell
Thanks for responding. I've looked for overrides in the text editor and even removed all formating and reset the table style. Also, gone into the style sheet with the text editor to make sure there wasn't something in the .css that was goofy. What is really frustrating is that I have a "text-al...

Centering an image in a table cell
I am trying to center an image, a small icon, in a table cell. I added the following class and applied it to the cell. td.centeredHorizontal { text-align: center; vertical-align: middle; } The image centers in the XML editor but not in preview or in the actual build for either media. However, if I a...

Re: PDF TOC running over footer
Body doesn't overlap. This may have been happening on an infrequent basis and I just never noticed it. I was not able to reproduce it in my sandbox project. Also, I went back to Flare 2018 and a previous .css and it still does it. I think it depends on how much space is taken up in the body dependin...

PDF TOC running over footer
My TOC on one page runs over the footer. It seems to be totally dependent on the mix of content (p.toc1, p.toc2, etc) on the page. Adding a margin or padding to the bottom of p.toc3 makes it go away but I think that is just because it changed the size of the page content. All print support setting h...

Life of CHM format?
I had heard through conversation at MadWorld 2019 that CSH in .chm files was broken. I tried it on Windows 10 with a .chm file compiled years ago and one compiled with Flare 2019 and found that CSH worked just fine in both. That said, is there any word about the life span of .chm files? It has alrea...

Re: How to enable "New Style Suggestions"?
Kudos to Madcap tech support. :D They responded to my submitted issue on New Year's Eve when I had already started the celebration. Turns out I was in the wrong tab. To enable this option go to File > Options, then press the Project Analysis tab and enable the checkbox for "Collect Local Style ...

How to enable "New Style Suggestions"?
I have tried to use the the New Style Suggestions under Analyzer in Flare 2018r2. I keep getting a "The scan is currently disabled..." When I try to enable it in File>Options, I find that it is already enabled. I've also deleted my Analyzer contents. Any ideas? This seems too simple to be ...

Re: Problems with new CSS
I've used the Kaizen plug in. Parts of it require that you pay for a license but changing tags is free. You can do it on a project or topic basis.

Never mind. I didn't have the Java runtime environment installed. Still can't change fonts but I can change the size and that is good enough today.

Formatting equations in 2018 (Flare 14)
I finally had to delve into the equation editor. I can change font color but not font size with the Madcap | equation tag . Is this a bug?

Re: No search capability in CHM help after Flare 12 upgrade
Same with Flare 13/Flare 2018. I had just moved to a new hard drive and was moving way too fast and my .chm almost made it to release.

Word output and mini-tocs
I'm seeing inconsistent results using a mini-toc in Word output. It works correctly for PDF and HTML 5 output but not Word. I even reinstalled Flare 11 to confirm that it worked then. The application is straight forward. The mini-toc is in an h1 topic and sent to a depth of "2" to pick up ...

Re: external program to edit image
I know that I can edit files with Photoshop (.png, tif, etc) and Illustrator(.eps) but I don' know how those are assigned either. They just magically appear in that shortcut menu. If you are using source control, you have to manually check them out and then in before an edited file can be saved.

It's not a bug but it is a little confusing. I needed to apply a condition in the image map properties as well as to the image.

Conditional image map bug?
I have one topic with two images each with its own unique image map. Each image is tagged for one conditions (product 1 or product 2). One of the maps has a link to a topic not included with both topics. However, when I build the targets, the link to the excluded topic is recognized even though its ...

Re: Flare 2017 r2 - OK to upgrade?
I have one small target in HTML 5. The rest of my targets are .pdf and .chm. Flare 2017 r2 seems to behave itself for those targets. Running 64-bit with TFS for source control since R2 it came out.

Re: 2017r2 - update or not?
PDF preview was acknowledged as a bug #130279. Oddly enough it doesn't appear in the 32-bit version which was offered as an alternative. Given the other issues I am going to roll back 2017 and wait for the fix.

Top Nav: Scroll bars in top level menu
Is there a way to add scroll bars to the side of the top level menu in default medium? I have a programming language that I document and there are well over 100 keywords at the second TOC level. When the menus drop down, most of the keywords are below the browser window. When the window collapses to...

Re: how to publish and setup IIS8 (on Server 2012R2) -Flare
You mentioned Default.htm and home.htm. Flare by generates Default.htm. You may need to use IIS Manager to add Default.htm to the IIS Default document. I'm still on Server 2008 R2 and IIS 7 so I'm not real sure of the exact steps to do that in IIS 8. You can also change the Flare target Output file ...
