Plethora of Find and Replace windows
I've been doing a lot of Find and Replace (Flare does not seem to be finding all instances of my search terms) and just noticed a bunch of windows/toolbars appearing in that area of my Flare window (scroll down): FindReplace.jpg Now when I try to run Find and Replace (from the main menu), I get an e...

relatedTopics and PDF output
I'm finally getting around to adding bells and whistles (such as drop-downs) to my project. I have a hand-created "See also" lists at the ends of most topics and was looking into converting these to relatedTopics drop-downs. I did a test WebHelp build and all looks good, but these disappea...

Re: Link checking...per target?
Thanks for the ideas. This does seem to be a big gaping hole, doesn't it? Frame handles this nicely - hide the conditional text, then build the book and Frame lets you know what links are unresolved. My target matrix looks like this: Product PDF WebHelp ================================= A1 A1-print ...

Re: CVS and Tam Tam
In case anyone else is having problems with Check In/Out All using CVS with Tam Tam (Flare does the checkout, but hangs with a Progress dialog that won't go away), here's what Tech Support has to say: Unfortunately I do not believe there are any other troubleshooting options for this issue. While we...

Re: CVS and Tam Tam
I figured it out. I think the problem was that the folder I specified in the CVS Module field existed, but had not been CVS- add ed and commit ted. My existing project was not in CVS before binding. Binding in Flare add ed and commit ted the files to CVS. It helped to figure out which dialogs were c...

CVS and Tam Tam
I'm trying to bind a Flare project to CVS using the TamTam CVS plugin and am running into issues. I get errors like the following during the Bind process: Source Control: CustomScc:AddFile - call failed with error code -15 (Nonspecific error.) Flare seems to think the project is "Bound" (t...

Re: Multiple variable sets and table formats
I tried what you suggested. The problem is that, within the source, the variables are associated with a variable set (the bit in bold below). <MadCap:variable name=" iTV-Manager .Product_EsqitvManager" /> So, I can't conditionalize to remove that set from the output - even when I do, the s...

Multiple variable sets and table formats
I have several targets that I need to output for a different company (new graphics, variable definitions, table formats, font colors). I figured out how to create a new stylesheet and conditionalize it for the targets, but I can't figure out how to do this with variable sets and table stylesheets. I...

Re: Filter in the Content Explorer
Actually, I tried a blank Filter, selecting "*.*" and selecting "*.htm*", but none of those work to bring back the full folder listing. I guess it's just me.

Re: Filter in the Content Explorer
The folder contains loads of other (plain old .htm) files. I'm filtering for files with "Feed" in the name. When I remove the filter, I can't get the other files to reappear unless I close the Content Explorer and reopen it. Wondering if there's a refresh button associated with the Filter ...

Thanks.
What if I want to see all the files in the current folder? Clearing the Filter doesn't seem to work.

Filter in the Content Explorer
Is there some magic incantation I need to mutter to get Flare to clear the Filter? I tried selecting All Files and Topic Files, but the Filter is still in effect....
For example, I filter by "*Feed*", then try remove the filter to see all files, but Flare ignores me: Thanks,

Link checking...per target?
I posted this over on the Flare forum, but no one chimed in. I am building two "books" for three products, creating WebHelp and PDF for each from a single source (that makes 12 distinct targets...yikes!). As you might imagine, I'm employing conditional text extensively. I've searched, but ...

Re: Link checking...per target
I should add that Frame has the ability to show/hide certain conditionals and then update the book to check for broken links. Am I missing this type of functionality in Flare?

PDF index page-number line breaks
In my index, sometimes the (hyphenated) page numbers break across a line, like so:
I've tried various stylesheet tweeks with hyphenation settings, but can't seem to influence this behavior. Ideas?- Tue May 18, 2010 4:25 pm

Weird line in PDF index
I've got my PDF index mostly looking the way I want, but I just noticed this weirdness. There's a line at the top of the index (not on the Page Layout) that shifts depending on what appears below it. For example: good-line.jpg When the IndexHeading appears immediately below the funny little line, th...

Re: Resizeing images for print
Nope, not there.
It's a personal pet peeve of mine when a UI exposes something to me, but then errors out when I try to do it. I mean, can't the UI just not show me the thing?
And...resizing. Jeez!

Oh, I see. You have to do this with the Advanced view. I think a better error message would be lovely.

Flare 6, PDF output The help says: Resize with styles You can resize many images at once by using the <img> style tag in the Stylesheet Editor.
