Re: x-refs in output display as [%=System.LinkedTitle%]

Could you insert a bookmark on your heading and link to that, perhaps?
While (as you point out) it's not ideal, this is a better work around than manually maintaining the title in two files. Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: x-refs in output display as [%=System.LinkedTitle%]

Hey folks, I just ran into this problem, so thanks very much, mrmansfan, for posting your solution of changing the mc-heading-level field. I don't think it will work for me, though, because we use mc-heading-level: 0 to prevent numbering of some headings (like the glossary). So I'm wondering -- does...

Thank for making the deadline, Andy. I agree that 2 images in a cell should work, hands down. I'm also always reminded of our own JR product when we can't suss Madcap.

Re: spell check with both global and project dictionaries

Thanks very much for replying! The way the interactive spell check window is arranged, I got confused about what the Dictionary drop-down controls. It's much clearer in the in-line spell check, so thanks for posting both pictures.

Re: Images not working correctly on one topic

That is why I suggested to use a verbal description instead. That will also work much better with screen readers. Overall, I think that inserting images inline with text is a bad idea, it disturbs the flow of reading and unless the glyphs are obvious as to what they mean (most are not) the reader h...

Re: Styles not in Resource Styles but in "Skin"Styles

You are far from the first person to get tripped up by this. (This is over-simplified, but....) There are separate stylesheets that are managed in different locations in Flare: Skin styles control some look and feel of the 'frame' (container) around your content; things like the logo or the font for...

spell check with both global and project dictionaries

I have a case where I need to use two different dictionaries to avoid adding a bunch of project-specific terms to the global dictionary. From the spell check UI and spelling options, I assumed you can only use one dictionary at a time (pity!), but then I saw this in the Flare 11 online help : COMBIN...

Re: Images not working correctly on one topic

Thanks, all, for your replies. these images are just icon-sized, then you don't need to set a max-width The icons use the base img class (which is where max-width is set) -- nearly all our images do, with a few exceptions. Adding max-width to the base class was the easiest way to fix another issue w...

Re: Images not working correctly on one topic

And now I've run into this..... It seems setting the image max-width to 100% actually causes similar problems in my projects. In my case, if a table cell includes two images, Flare begins glitching out in one of a few ways: big-red-x-in-a-box, topic content disappearing entirely, or crashing. Additi...

I don't like this "design choice" much myself, but:

2) a lot of Flare features result in numerous tags being used to render the final effect. Re: Small images within a list item or paragraph do not alig

Thanks for the input, MattyQ. As a general PSA, I've found the XML Editor doesn't seem to do a good job of rendering where the image will actually be in the output when you're using inline images. It renders correctly in the editor, but in the HTML output, the alignment is wrong (so I agree that the...

I don't think that's quite true. Hmmm. I got this idea from a colleague and ran it by MadCap Tech Support, who seemed to agree (though looking back at the email thread, they never said, "Yup, that's a table alright.") In my source, our number lists look like this: <p class="Numbered_...

Re: Database Errors

Sorry it didn't work. I don't use Analyzer too much, so I may be wrong about where they store that database. Not to ask the Flare equivalent to "have you tried restarting Windows?" but did you also delete other problematic, generated folders such as /Analyzer, /Output, /FileSync and /Sourc...

Re: Database Errors

This sounds to me like a problem in the SQLite databse that Analyzer builds. For some reason, the VariableType column is missing from the Variable table. Try deleting your Analyzer folder and re-analyzing the project.

Thanks,

Re: Small images within a list item or paragraph do not alig

I ran into this back in Flare 10, and it's still an issue in Flare 11. The MadCap Support rep insisted that the problem was the use of outside-head rather than inside-head in our auto-number definition, but I found that: a) Using inside-head for auto-numbers only fixed the problem in certain cases. ...

I noticed that this H6 header also appeared in the index... this was undesirable and unintended. So, I added mc-heading-level: 0; to the header style but unfortunately, that also removed it from the page header. I bumped into something similar a few weeks ago: mc-heading-level fighting with Heading...

Re: How do I add a condition to a CSS style

Hi again, Yaacov, I don't think there's a concept of 'conidtional CSS' as such -- the CSS is applied based on the type of output you're generating. Each target's output type is associated with a medium. In your stylesheet, you'll see that there are multiple media (by default, you have (default), non...
