Re: Copy-Modify-Merge workflow

I would not be too reassured. When you use the Flare 7 Subversion integration, the UI gives the impression that you're using a Lock-Modify-Unlock workflow, when in fact it uses a Copy-Modify-Commit workflow. Even if you are trying to use Subversion with a Lock-Modify-Unlock workflow (using Subversio...

Re: Ignoring certain files (especially hidden ones) in Flare

Good luck with your testing of Flare 7. I have also been looking at this, and I found that I was able to rename and move files successfully. I found a small problem with deleting files though. Although Flare deletes the files on your computer and everything looks okay, the deletion does not normally...

Re: Ignoring certain files (especially hidden ones) in Flare

whenever you submit your changes TortoiseSVN (or whatever you use) will have no problem detecting filename changes, moves and deletions done from Flare Unfortunately, I think the opposite is true. If your project is not bound to source control in Flare, Flare will only rename, move, and delete the ...

Managing Templates unavailable when no project is open

Hi all, Does anyone have any ideas about the following problem? I have a hope that we could set up project template files and share them between many authors, to enable them to quickly create help projects using the same standard files. In Flare 6, this seems quite easy to set up, by first creating ...

Re: Has anyone encountered "The XML page cannot be displayed"?

Was able to do a little more testing today. The problem does not seem to be related to emailing or zipping. The same problem occurs when the CHMs copied from a USB stick. I found today that the problem does not occur with all Flare generated CHMs, which is intriguing. The problematic CHMs have the f...

Re: Has anyone encountered "The XML page cannot be displayed"?

Thanks again for the responses! The MSXML Core Services seems to already have been updated to version 6.0 Service Pack 2. The reference I see in the Control Panel is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954459 . The update seems to be from around 11 November 2008. Is that the same version that you have? ...

Re: Has anyone encountered "The XML page cannot be displayed"?

Thanks for your responses! I've worked through the suggestions as far as possible, but unfortunately haven't found a fix. The error definitely occurs on the client's systems. In addition to my personal systems, the client provides me with one of their systems, which is why you see my name in the err...

Has anyone encountered "The XML page cannot be displayed"?

Hello! My client's PCs are configured and managed centrally over the network. I believe that they always install the latest Microsoft updates for Windows XP, but still have IE6 and have not upgraded to IE7. When I copy a CHM generated with Flare to one of the client's PCs, and then open the CHM, the...

Re: nested CHMs not searchable

It's a shame that Flare doesn't enable you to specify additional merge files in the way that HTML Help Workshop does. The ability to merge at multiple levels is one of the best features of HTML help, especially if you work with large help sets over a long period of time.

Why are MadCap Book Viewer files included?

Hello to all! Maybe I'm missing something very obvious, because I'm very new to Flare. When I create a target and set the output type to PDF, not only do I get a PDF, but I get a .mcbook file and some resources and images created in the output folder too. (Some of the page layouts that get copied ar...
