Re: How to see which snippet and or condition is used where?

I think you should be able to create some reports to help you along. There are options such as "Files With Snippets," "Used Condition Tags," and so forth.

Good luck,

Re: Cannot see all styles - I want a full Paragraph Catalog!

milkor, what's this?
a full paragraph catalog à la FrameMaker

In Flare neither the Style Picker nor the Styles window will offer any styles not in your project.

In either interface, I see all the styles that are in my .css style sheet (all divs, all headings, all p classes, and all pre classes).

Re: help with indented bullets

You should be setting indents and list styles in the ul/ol, not the li. Here's what we use (two levels only, but you could build out what you need). Note also that we use specific styling inside a Table Style (titled CrdProjectOpenTable.css, at the bottom of the attached code). /*== LISTS (AND LISTS...

Re: Cannot see all styles - I want a full Paragraph Catalog!

Except that the Style Picker (Ctrl+Shift+H) goes away on its own after you make your selection and press Enter. The Styles window (F12), on the other hand, must be manually closed to regain the real estate that it has grabbed.

Re: How do you link to a specific place in a different topic?

With the topic selected, click the Bookmark button (just below the list of files) and select a Heading or Bookmark from the list in the Select Bookmark window.

That'll give you a link to "my_topic.htm#mybookmark"

Re: Related Topics Not Working

You don't say what version/output you're dealing with, but Flare 8.1.1 and a WebHelp target gets me this when I click a Related Topics control: WebHelp output is currently in preview mode. Help control links will not be compiled. We don't use them ourselves, but I have to assume this means that your...

Linking to a bookmark in the drop-down head does not expand

Linking to a bookmark inside a drop-down head (<MadCap:dropDownHead>) only sets the focus on the head (dotted border all around), but does not expand the drop-down! You must move the bookmark to the body instead (<MadCap:dropDownBody>), which will allow the hyperlink to expand the drop-down. (In the...

To be sure, try New > Report File. In the General tab scroll down to TOC and check Duplicate TOC Items. That might help.

Re: Unexpected behavior: multiple entries/same target

Create blank redirect topics and link them to TOC entries. The topics should have, in the XML Editor mode: <title>The Same Title as the "Original" Topic</title> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;URL=original_topic_name.htm" /> This way, the TOC and breadcrumbs will ...

Re: Organise Flare's stylesheet? It is such a mess

Reorganize it in the code (Flare's Internal Text Editor or Notepad). Of course, if you add comments (for identifying groups of styles, etc.), Flare has the maddening habit of moving those comments around to where they make no sense any longer. Flare support has logged a bug on my behalf, and I "...

Re: What's the single biggest Flare project you've had to manage

42-project merged WebHelp, 3200 topics (over 700 are above 10KB), 6200 images, over 13,000 hyperlinks.

Times two, for two substantially different release versions (the consensus of eight writers was to keep them separate instead of falling into conditional chaos).

Lisa, FAR http://helpware.net/FAR/help/hh_start.htm has a Delete Selected Files option in the Commands menu. If you create a File List that includes that filename with every directory path, you simply open the file list and issue the command. The one-click process should be lightning fast. Good luck...
