Re: Mixed alignment in footer
Thanks for the tip on table styles dorcutt. I came to Flare with a long background in editing raw CSS and doing programming, so the idea of having a separate CSS file and a separate editor for table CSS made no sense to me and I didn't spend any time learning a new way to do the same thing. But mayb...

Re: Mixed alignment in footer
Here are the answers to my 3 questions above, and a summary of important things I learned: 1. Can you point me to the CSS files that are used by the footer? (This would probably fix the two following items.) The header/footer editor uses the project's main CSS file. You can access the CSS classes fo...

Re: Mixed alignment in footer
Thanks for your help Marjorie! Thanks for the tip about docking the footer editor. [...] you insert a table in the footer (once you have opened it for edit) in just the same way as you would insert in in a topic. Probably Tables > Insert? You were right, I finally looked up and saw a tab called Tabl...

Re: Mixed alignment in footer
I have two questions on this: 1. How do you insert a table in a footer? I tried copying and pasting the HTML from a footer that had a table, but it wasn't real text and would not paste. 2. It appears that both cells, left and right, contain text that is left-aligned. How do I right-align the right c...

Re: DITA import/Webhelp build failing
I opened a Flare support ticket on this, and after a bit of research, support told me that this is a Flare bug. The submitted bug report number is 43050.

DITA import/Webhelp build failing
I'm using Flare 6.1.0. I am importing a ditamap for Webhelp output. The DITA Webhelp build fails the first time I try to run it. Log output below. I checked after the failure and the file that it says it cannot access (...\pg\images\system1a.jpg) is there in that folder. Removing previously generate...

Re: Storing WebHelp output in Perforce
Thanks for reminding me about Flare command-line help builds. I'm going to look into it. As for why I am putting Webhelp output in Perforce, I inherited the practice from someone at my client a few years ago. I'm not sure why he did it, but I will assume it was because it was a formal way to supply ...

Storing WebHelp output in Perforce
I use Perforce to control Flare v6 source files and it works fine. But I also store an entire Flare Webhelp system in Perforce so it is available during the build of the large application it is part of. This works fine most of the time but we get occasional problems with the Webhelp when it is invok...

DITA import crash
I earlier imported (as a project) a DITA map of about 12 topics into Flare v6. I have the project set up to update the files before generating output (WebHelp). Now when I try to generate WebHelp output it starts updating the DITA files, then aborts with this message: Description Target Subsystem Fi...

Re: Validating Flare XML with an XML editor
Flare only keeps the Project files in XML code You can find these here: C:\Program Files (x86)\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V4\Flare.app\Resources\Schemas So is the Flare XML format in the editor basically a customized XHTML that uses the schemas in the location you mention? Flare promo says that y...

Re: Flare 3.1 stays in memory after closing
It sounds like your Source control is synchronizing your flare project. What source control are you using? I was using Perforce. I'm not sure what is meant by "synchronizing files." Perforce by itself never runs up the CPU to 90%+ on and on. By the way, I un-bound the project from source ...

Validating Flare XML with an XML editor
Has anyone validated Flare XML files in an ordinary XML editor? I am using Oxygen 9.3. The problem is apparently that I do not have the right schema file. I assumed that the schema file referenced in the namespace (MadCap.xsd) would be the schema to use: <html xmlns:MadCap="http://www.madcapsof...

Content Explorer files not alphabetized
Content Explorer is not alphabetizing folders and files, in Flare 3.1 and 4.1. I can't find any setting to change this. Does anyone know how to make Content Explorer alphabetize? Thanks.

Flare 3.1 stays in memory after closing
I moved this from the "Flare's General Discussion" forum after it narrowed down to a source control problem (hope that's okay). Here's what happens: I open Flare, then open a project that is bound to source control. CPU utilization of Flare.exe process in Task Manager at this point: 0% or ...

Validating Flare XML with MadCap.xsd
I sometimes edit Flare files in an XML editor (Oxygen 9.3) and I would like to validate them. I assumed that the schema file referenced in the namespace (MadCap.xsd) would be the schema to use: <html xmlns:MadCap="http://www.madcapsoftware.com/Schemas/MadCap.xsd"> I found MadCap.xsd in my ...

Re: Flare 3.1 ignores table specs in my .css
Thanks for your response Kevin. There are a couple things I can't figure out about tables. 1. I can't get the Select Table Type Template dialog to display my existing style sheet that contains my table definitions (and other definitions). I used the info in the "Creating Templates" help to...

Flare 3.1 ignores table specs in my .css
I can't get Flare 3.1 to officially recognize the table-related definitions in my .css file (created outside of Flare). After reading through the help I see that Flare makes a distinction between table styles and other styles, with a separate table style editor. It seems to split table styles up int...

Re: Flare 3.1 stays in memory after closing
Yes. Please see my last post. It is projects that are bound to source control that seem to cause this problem.helen wrote:Are you binding your project to source control at all?

Re: Flare 3.1 stays in memory after closing
I found my installation email. First I uninstalled and reinstalled .NET Framework 3.5, which the Flare 3.1 download webpage had a link to. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled Flare 3.1. The stays-running problem still happens but I have more info now. It only happens when I have opened a project that...

Re: Flare 3.1 stays in memory after closing
I'm using Flare 3.1. I have restarted Windows XP. I don't think it's a stale process because there is usually only one Flare.exe in the Task Manager processes tab. I have not tried to reinstall Flare, can you please give me a link to download 3.1? Would I uninstall .NET from Add or Remove Programs? ...

Re: Flare 3.1 stays in memory after closing
Yes, it happens when I close the project first. I just tried it. Then I tried it leaving the project open, and it also happened. I close Flare from the FIle menu, and then the CPU utilization goes way up. In Task Manager, on the Processes tab, it shows Flare.exe at a high percentage, often over 90%....
