Re: Condition tags on autoindex files
Thanks, it looks like a bug to me too, but I hoped I had forgotten a setting somewhere. I'll send a bug report to MadCap.

Re: Condition tags on autoindex files
Do you mean the index topic? There is no index topic for online targets, the presence of an index is set in the skin. I've tagged the .flaix file but Flare ignores the tag. Sorry, it's not in the contents folder, it's in the project folder.

Condition tags on autoindex files
I want to use an autoindex in a big project with separate targets for six different products. I don't want to use the index in one of the targets, so applied a condition tag to the autoindex file in the contents folder. However, Flare isn't honoring the condition tag. Has anyone else had a similar p...

Re: PDF file size is huge
I discovered that Flare produces PDFs on my machine that are nearly twice the size of those produced on a colleague's machine. Turns out that I have Distiller 8 on my machine while she has Distiller X on hers. Flare appears to be picking up the settings from Distiller, and the recent versions are mo...

Re: Flare 10 -- PDF output oddities
A colleague had similar problems when she upgraded. We fixed them by resetting the display screen magnification to "smaller". See http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare10/Default.htm#Troubleshooting/TS_PDF_Output.htm%3FTocPath%3DTroubleshooting|_____14 and http://forums.madcapsoftware.com...

Re: How to see the difference
Warning: Contributor allows anyone to accept the changes, and once accepted they don't show up. So your contributor might make changes which Flare doesn't report on.

Re: User sent to top of document after pasting text
I've have a contributor who gets this all the time, but others don't seem to have a problem. I'm trying to work out what he's doing that's different from the others!

I also have this problem. At them moment, I've asked them to write the text with an annotation to me to turn it into a cross-reference.

Re: Send Project as a Whole to be Reviewed in Contributor?
We have a contributor who is responsible for the contents of an entire user guide. He asked for a review package of the whole project and we obliged by selecting and sending him all the topics in the TOC. It was not a happy experience. Points to note: 1 When you import a review package back into Fla...

Re: Cursor jumping around in text - Flare 8
I sometimes get this problem in Flare 9, and one of my SMEs experiences it with Contributor. It seems to happen regularly if a list or table crosses a page boundary. Refreshing the page by pressing F5 usually fixes it.

Unexpected search results in webhelp plus
I have taken a working project that I normally build in webhelp, rebuilt it in webhelp plus and published it to a web server running Windows Server 2008R2 Standard. I followed all the procedures in the online help and knowledge base and successfully opened the published help in a remote browser. Eve...

Re: Binding a Flare project to Subversion
I've been using Flare with subversion for a couple of years and have been using Tortoise to import and export projects, and check working copies in and out. In Tortoise, the "external items" feature allows you to construct a working copy from a number of different checkouts. So you can hol...

Re: complex selectors: ol ul and ul ol styles
HTML Reference states that the permitted contents of ol and ul elements are "zero or mor li elements". So you should embed the p element in an li, as whunter recommends.

Re: #bookmark xrefs in pdf only jump to the top of the topic
When inserting a cross-reference for PDF output, Flare will always refer to the nearest item in the ToC specified in the target. If the xref is to a bookmark within a topic, you get the top of topic. If the xref is to a sub-heading in a topic, Flare will xref the sub-heading if it's mc-heading level...

Re: Opera 11 and WebHelp?
I've had the reply from Technical Support and it is a bug: "Dear Judith, Thank you for contacting MadCap Support. This issue is produced by a security setting in the Opera 11 version, it only affects the outputs when they are viewed locally. I have passed this issue to our developers, the curre...

Re: Opera 11 and WebHelp?
Hi Kevin, I'm having the same problem with Opera 11 installed locally. Flare 7 has fixed the problem with the latest version of Chrome. Safari 5, Firefox 4 and IE8 seem to be OK. I haven't tested IE9 yet, as it doesn't seem to work with lots of web sites (including major retailers). I submitted a bu...

Re: WebHelp and browsers
I have tested my Flare 7 WebHelp on Firefox 4, Safari 5, IE8, Chrome 10 and Opera 11. It works on all but Opera. The help is installed on the local machine, and I suspect this may be the problem. I have submitted a bug.

Re: Changing ShortDate format
Good idea, Margaret. I'll do the same. It's a complete pain looking at an event log that gives a date/time stamp of 10:03:24 July 2010 because I've set the date format to accomodate my Flare output. And I always forget to reset the date - it's worse than remembering to sign the in/out book used by t...

Re: Changing ShortDate format

Re: Need to transfer Flare to a different computer
The problem is that I already have two copies of Flare installed on different computers. One is dead, cooked motherboard. RIP. The other is on loan and Flare has to be removed when I give it back. MadCap customer services have been very helpful - they asked me to send electronic copies of the licens...
