Hi,
I have two flare project files. How do I import files from Project A into Project B?
Thanks,
Ken

Flare v 4.2 crashing after recent XP update
I just recently did a microsoft windows update this past friday and since Monday, Flare has been crashing constantly, displaying an error that is most likely an XP error. But just curious if any other user with XP has experienced any problems.
Thanks
Thanks

Failed to Open file error
Has anyone encountered this error before? I opened up my project and clicked on a topic and it won't open. The following error displays:

using the short line style
In my numbered step, I'm trying to alter a style so that the comma stays with the text. For some reason it keeps wrapping to another line. (see step 2 of screencap)
Any ideas on how to fix this.
Thanks!

Re: how to do a page break for a numbered item
This note explains why I couldn't get it to work:
Let's say you've created a class for the <li> tag (e.g., li.PageBreakBefore) and you've specified a page break for it. Suppose you want to apply that style class to an item in one of your lists so that it starts on the next page. However, you also ...

Ok, I'm going round and round in the style sheet trying to get a numbered step to page break.
How should I go about doing this?

Re: Headings are wrapping in the PDF
Yeah, in the topic itself. And it only shows up once I build the pdf
So, the header is Lesson 1: Set Viewport Render Preferences
and it displays as:

Headings are wrapping in the PDF
Hi,
What style attribute do you change so that the header doesn't wrap to the next line.
I've changed it so that it doesn't hyphenate, but I want to know what my options are if I want to keep the header on 1 line in the PDF.
Thanks!

Setting up a process for Versioning
Hi all,
This is 1/2 Flare question and 1/2 broad tech pubs question:
I'm interested to see how other tech pub groups go about versioning the guides to correspond with different releases - major and minor (Process, naming convention, etc.)

hyphenation for list tags
Hi,
How do I fix the hyphenation in List tags? The words keep breaking on the lists when I build the PDF. I see how you can edit this for paragraph tags but I'm not sure how to duplicate it for List tags.
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Content Explorer/Organizing Folders question
Problem Solved!!
Long Story Short: We initially imported everything from word and the import files (.fltmp) in the imports folder were causing the re-generation.
As soon as I deleted those, the folders stopped re-appearing. Yay!

Yeah, it's really strange. The old folders just re-appear everytime I regenerate (build the PDF).

Re: Content Explorer/Organizing Folders question
P.S. I was trying another trouble-shooting method and I accidentally deleted my resources folder in windows explorer.
I had a back-up of the guide and I copied over the resources folder but my images aren't showing up.
Are there recovery steps?
Thanks,
Ken

No, I'm not using source control.
We did import everything from word but I was pretty sure that I went through and remove all the links to the word files.

Question about See Also links (AKA Concept Links)
I've followed the instructions and flare and inserted Concept Links (see also).
After I generate, it seems like See Also links are placed in alphabetical order.
Is there any way to manipulate this list order?
Another observation.

Re: ? about styles in style pane
Hi,
I checked the margin left under the Box category for the TOC tags and they are all set to the 0 pt, 10 pt, respectively.
Maybe I'm applying the tag incorrectly? Is there a procedure for this anywhere.
This is the structure that I'm trying to emulate in my PDF output, but just can't seem to ...

Gotcha - thanks!
And I see your point about the TOC1 tag.
What I'm trying to do is alter the physical TOC bookmarks for a PDF (Not your typical TOC that is frontmatter, but the actually bookmarks that show up on the left hand side of the PDF)

I'm trying to apply the TOC1 style tag but it's not showing up in the style pane. Shouldn't every style in the stylesheet editor appear in this pane?
I'm trying to figure out how this style is applied?
Thanks!

I'd like to have my TOC html help icon look like the purple book that you see in most helps. Currently, mine is the default green one.

I figured it out.
Hard to explain. But for some reason my index entry window looked like this:

And after many frustrating trial and errors, I decided to grab the patterned line and it expanded to reveal:
