Re: Flare 10 wishlists and sneak peeks?

Hi, will it be possible to create a plain, single page html?

We're trying to convert odt file content (heavily formatted) - via word - to plain html.

thanks

Table Borders not showing when imported from WORD

I'd be grateful if you could share your experience related to importing WORD tables and styles and outputting to WORD/PDF.

My tables in WORD have borders all around, but do not seem to show when output via Flare. I've gone back to the source document and reassigned them, but that seems to have ...

Conditional Tagging for TOC elements

I've set a negative conditional tag and assigned it to a number of TOC elements, but they don't seem to stick. It appears that the updated TOC is not saved. A separate target is created to specify the exclusion for the condition.
When I build the target, the condition is ignored. What am I doing ...

Re: Import from WORD and output to WORD/PDF - section breaks

Thank you very much for your responses and various advice!

Paragraph properties - 'page break - always' works for me!

As for the TOC, there are elements that I want in the Flare TOC which I do not want to show in the WORD output TOC. For example, Revision History page and the TOC page.
It is ...

Import from WORD and output to WORD/PDF - section breaks

Hi, I've just starte/d importing from WORD, and outputting to WORD/PDF, and am not managing to control 'new topics' in TOC and page breaks for sections that start with non-H type styles.

1) What determines whether a topic is included in the Flare TOC on import of a WORD document split into ...

Hi Dave,

Thanks again -
but whether that is going to be a particularly easy or efficient way to write your help is another matter.

Re: How to override Local Formatting

Thanks Kevin and Dave,

Good to know that I can view and edit the stylesheet from within Flare.

Do the standard styles in Flare not include devices like box around the text and the header on the line?
If they do, which styles do I use, respectively?

Re: How to override Local Formatting

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your assessment. I'll send you a screenshot to your private address (if I can) to show you what the help looks like. It's nothing complicated.

At the next opportunity, I'll start a Flare stylesheet from scratch.

Thanks for your patience and sticking with me till the end!

Re: How to override Local Formatting

Hi Dave

Thanks very much for your quick response!

Re: How to override Local Formatting

Hi Dave,

Thanks very much for the suggestion.

Re: How to override Local Formatting

Thanks Dave.

In the stylesheet, no colour is set for h1. I can't see a h1.class in the stylesheet. (where do I view all classes?)
In advanced view, nothing comes up as locally set properties. (The only properties set in the stylesheet are display, font size and weight, margin, mc-auto-number-offset ...

Re: How to override Local Formatting

I just realized another problem with this manual replacement method...

Most of the files are single sourced from another project and merged. The colour for h1 needs to remain as it is in the other project.
The merge doesn't happen often, but would be nice to minimise the amount of work required ...

Re: How to override Local Formatting

Thanks for your kind explanations, Dave!

Now, when I see the file in the editor, it has: <h1 xmlns="">Reference Topics</h1>
When I remove xmlns="", the colour remains unchanged, and does not conform to the colour set for h1 in the style sheet the topic is linked to.
If I then apply a change of ...

How to override Local Formatting

It appears that local formatting had been used to apply colour to h1 style, which has no colour set in the stylesheet. Breadcrumb and TOC title

When I create a new topic page based on an existing htm file and rename it, the breadcrumb title does not seem to get updated.
The breadcrumb is supposed to show the TOC heading for the page, but in this case it doesn't for the page itself. For TOC levels above that page, the TOC headings show in ...

Re: Removing Snippets

Thanks Kevin, for the clarification. I suppose that a snippet snips it out.

I should have used 'variables' for the text, or created a duplicated topic page and made them conditional to the respective targets.
Is this the correct way to go about it?

(For blocks of style class I have been applying ...

Kevin - please read on.

I will try again to word my problem better.

Is there a way to dissociate the reference between the ...

Re: Stylesheet applied to topic but not built

Problem solved. The Master Page had the default style sheet associated with it - changed it to the new one.
(I hadn't created the Master Page myself, so didn't know much about it. Removed the default css then saw that the Master page was missing it during the build process, etc.)
