Flare 9.1 Madbuild error codes
Flare 9.1 adds several error codes, including:
3 = Build completed with compiler warnings
which breaks automatic builds.
(http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... ersion.htm)
Can we suppress error code 3 or others?
Thanks,
Bonnie

Re: Flare 8 - Logic to open files?
It's a window layout oddity. When I define my own layout, Flare's behavior to open files is not consistent. For example: After floating topics and a TOC and arranging them in the window layout, Flare might place the next topic to be opened in its own space or it might dock it with a group of topics ...

Flare 8 - Logic to open files?
What is the logic that Flare 8 uses to open files?
Opening a file places it in a unique location when opened from a TOC versus the content explorer. Is there a scheme to follow that will open topics consistently?
Thank you.

Re: Table of Contents Presentation
Yes, thank you. I can set the mc-leader format to a blank space, and set then the offset, which moves the page number in from the right margin the amount of the offset, thus aligning all page numbers in from the right. No matter which settings I try, the page number will not position next to the rig...

Re: Table of Contents Presentation
Thanks. I have modified the settings for p.TOC1, and other styles as mentioned above, but the combination I have tried has not yielded the desired output. I am trying to have the page number placed just to the right of the chapter title, and the chapter number on the left. Can anyone answer if the p...

Table of Contents Presentation
I have attempted to modify the Flare 6.1 styles for TOC entries to produce the Table of Contents sample shown below, with chapter # on the left and page # on the right with no leaders. Although I have spent much time in trial-and-error, and using the Flare documentation, the settings are not renderi...

Re: Removing Periods from ol | li
Yes, that is the generated output. I applied these changes to the css default settings, as well as the medium, and the results are the same. What am I missing? The complete list does not generate correctly without the full-stops, although I have tried all of the suggestions with changes to the follo...

Re: MadCap|variable vertical alignment
Thanks. First the question, and then the problems... Question: What is the best method for getting a Heading 1 and auto chapter number on the page: In the page layout or in the topic itself? Problem 1: In Page Layout - Table containing Heading 1 in left cell and system variable chapter # in right ce...

Re: Removing Periods from ol | li
Thank you. I have applied this change to our new corporate print medium in the .css, and the resulting output for an ordered list that contains paragraph items (including ol | li -and- ol | li | p -and- ol | li | ul | li), resembles the following. What am I missing?

Removing Periods from ol | li
Our current documentation contains li ordered lists, which have a period after each number. To match our new corporate standard, the periods must be removed. However, it does not appear possible to remove the period from the default li style in the mc-auto-number-format in Flare 6. A paragraph style...

Re: MadCap|variable vertical alignment
Thanks for great troubleshooting tips. The difference is in the size of the fonts applied. Flare 6 does not accept a negative number on the padding (anymore?), so an alternative is to raise up the text, which works. However, this approach presents too much spacing from the line up to the text, and a...

MadCap|variable vertical alignment

The vertical alignment differs for the System.ChapterNumber variable. I have attempted to match the vertical alignment of both variables in...

Re: More on Windows 7 with Flare 6
Due to a DCOM error on source control upgrade on Windows 7, I was attempting to rule it out. Resolved the problem by simply disabling the auto sync of import files in the target.

More on Windows 7 with Flare 6
Is anyone having problems with building targets when running Flare 6 on Windows 7? If so, were/are the problems related to DCOM settings or other system settings?
Thanks much,
Bonnie

Outdated Entries of Master Stylesheet in Targets
Flare appears to track outdated entries of the stylesheet in the Master Stylesheet field in targets. As a result, the builds producing incorrect output because Flare is not recognizing the correct style sheet (troubleshooting reveals that the last duplicate entry is the valid stylesheet). How do we ...

Modifying drop-down styles
When using multiple drop-downs in a list, attempting to increase the vertical spacing/padding between the dropdowns is not being applied. The spacing does not change, regardless of which setting is applied to which Madcap | dropDown style. The format is: <MadCap: dropDownHead> <MadCap: dropDownHead>...
