After importing DITA, Flare loses details in its DITA output
Flare seems to import a DITA task. But on export, the structure differs from the original. Flare adds elements that aren't in the original. Flare also converts the more task-specific <steps> element to the more generic <ol> list. Does anyone know why? Here's the DITA before Flare imports it: <?xml v...

Using a ditaval profile to generate conditional output
Hi,
I'm wondering how to get Flare to use a ditaval profile—imported with a DITA document set—in order to generate conditional output.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

Importing the £ (GBP currency symbol) works intermittently
Hi, I'm importing text from two sample DITA files into separate Flare projects: From the Encyclopedia Britannia (a common DITA sample on the Internet). From my client's sample text. In Flare, in the Encyclopedia project, the Great Britain Pound symbol, £, imports and appears correctly. In Flare, in ...

Why no link icons in imported DITA files?
Hi, I've made a pilot project that imports DITA source files into Flare. The plan is to edit the content in DITA, so I've set the import to "link" the files. The Help in Flare says: Note: A link icon displays on tabs in the XML Editor next to file names that are imported from and linked to...

How to detect poorly formed DITA on Reimport or on Build?
Hi, I'm setting up a pilot project that imports source DITA content into Flare. Quoting from the Help: Auto-reimport before 'Generate Output' This is also known as "Easy Sync." If you created a connection between your DITA source files and the Flare project earlier in the wizard, you will ...

Re: DITA keys in Flare
Hi Matt,
I sure would love to know the answer to your question from a year ago.
Maybe you have figured it out since then?
If you have the/an answer to your question, please take a moment to post it, because that would be a great help to me.

Re: Getting text strings from Flare into a JSON file
An update: we solved this by getting developers to write a transformation script and validation scripts, and a dev-ops to implement various Jenkins pipeline jobs. Goals for the content: Speedy changes, managed One goal was to manage—by using Flare—all text that appears in the UI of a web application...

MadCap recommends a fix at the end of this post: https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=18525&start=25 Developers think that the whole world can just fix things by editing the registry. MadCap end users who work in a mid-sized or large corporation know they cannot access the...

MadCap is out of touch with its customers, on this one. I work in a corporate environment where the registry is locked down and it's two weeks of effort and explaining how I'd need access to the registry to fix a vendor's bug.tyip wrote:MadCap support suggests trying two things. …

So where do we vote for bugs to fix? I mean—do any of us need more features? or do we need usability?

Re: Set a specific accordion to expand by default
I solved it! What doesn't work : dragging the bars to re-order them with the accordion. That is, you can drag to re-order during the session, but the new order does not persist to future sessions. What does work : Do it in three steps. Prepare . Display all the panes that you want in the same accord...

The Find box won't accept typed text
Hi, I've noticed this problem lately, and I wonder if I'm missing something? In the Find and Replace in Files pane, in its Find box, when I click in the box, it gets focus, as expected. In other words, the insertion point—the blinking cursor—appears in the Find box I clicked. However, when I try to ...

Set a specific accordion to expand by default
This drives me crazy in Flare 12. I have several panes in accordion mode. How can I set which one is on top/expanded by default when Flare opens? Every time it takes an extra click. For example, the Content Explorer and the Project Organizer share an accordion pane. I would love Content Explorer to ...

How to rename the heading "TOC" to "Table of contents"
Hi, In Flare 12 I am using a target of PDF, and I am using the sample UserGuide as the starting point for my project. Re: Don't want the Skins folder
The "Why don't you copy" suggestion is precisely the issue, because the content is being ingested by an automated process, and so the output requres custom scripting in order to groom out the unwanted elements, such as the Skin and Data folders.

Don't want the Skins folder
When I build Flare's HTML5 output, i get a Skins folder.
This is confusing to non-Flare users on the team, and we only need the .htm files.
How can I prevent the Skins folder from appearing?

How can I stop Flare from building the Data folder in the output when I build HTML5?
We don't need the Dat folder, because we only need the htm files. It's confusing to newbies on the team to have extra folders.

Build messages fly by too fast
Hi, In an earlier version of Flare, I knew how to display all the error messages relating to a build, messages that would occur while building a target. In Flare 12, on the Builds tab, I see messages flashing by (incuding some disconcerting ones about missing files), but it's too fast to read, and t...
