Re: How NOT to embed a resource file
Check out the publishing feature in Flare. You could create a folder on your C:\ drive and put the videos in there, then set up the Flare project to publish the CHM file to that folder. I've never tried the publishing feature with a CHM file, but it should work, and you don't need to use FTP to do ...

How NOT to embed a resource file
How can I add files to project that are just copied to the same output directory as the CHM file (I don't want them embedded).
This is to handle Videos that just are not reliable when embeded.
I can do it outside of flare, but flare wipes the output directory every time.

WHat do folks recommend for Video formats for CHM files
We are having a nightmare with using different formats.
I could get SWF flash to work (but I could not get controls to show up). Quality and size of video was rather large but that could be a reencoder issue that I could fix.
I could not get FLV to work at all.

Slow Load of MadCapAll.js
We have a dead simple website that we use WebHelp implement.
Most WebHelp Features disabled, TOC, Searching etc.
It's all working fine but the initial WebPage loads pretty slow.
Is there a way to control all the stuff that gets put into MadCapAll.js.

Using a symbol or keyword for Product Name
We have many references to our Product Name which may change.
I'd like what's displayed for the Product name in one place. The Product name might stand alone or be a Prefix to something else.
For example think of ThinkPads. They might have ThinkMessage, ThinkMaintenance, ThinkPad.

Any plans to support .xamlhelpz format
Microsoft is introducing a new help format for WPF applications.
It would be real nice if MadCap supported producing this file format
I would have filed a ticket but I'm locked out because my support is not currently active.

Re: Madbuild NOT failing with missing files
I ended up writing my own wrapper that searches results for the word "Missing" and failing the build if found.
Not what I would call an "enterprise" development tool. Nor is it's support.

Way to deal with Hyper Link's "Link Text" being static
When I add a hyperlink to another document it nicely defaults the the "Link Text" to the title of the document I'm linking to.
If I change the location it nicely updates all links.

This forum is not designed by anyone from MadCap. The forums software is phpBB, one of the most popular and widely used forum platforms out there. If you think some function doesn't work right I recommend to bring it to the attention of the phpBB folks. That said, I think it works just the way it ...

the CSH for Dot Not should work with out you needing to add anything by hand, I would talk to support if you are still having issues.
You have to specify the help ID's somewhere either manually or have them generated from tags.

Re: context-sensitive help only works for initial topic
Ah I found it. Can't believe you have to manually add CSHID's to the table and link them.
I feel like I've gone back 20 years to LaTeX and TeX land with this tool.
Older tools you'd add some sort of tag on the page and it would add it automatically to the CSHID table same for TOC.

Re: context-sensitive help only works for initial topic
May I be so bold as to ask how you even got that far
I can't figure out how your wire and create the context ID's.
All I keep reading and seeing is the old style .h file for C++ which I'm familiar with.
How are the ID's passed to a .Net C# app?
Thanks

Madbuild never sets return status
I have a Nant Script that does a command line build using madbuild.
If the madbuild fails it always returns 0 (pass) in the build even when it fails (e.g. missing file).

If I already have 4.2 Viewer installed
Why is the MergeModule trying to Install It and Uninstall it when I run my installer.
It should see a newer version already exists and skip it.
