My programmer is getting some weird code when trying to extract to the server. I sent him a zip file of my files. The files work locally. They use a "jar" command. Don't know what this means. We have been using the same process for years. We have no idea why there is an issue now. Any ideas?

Re: ADA issue - Having focus on topic when first launched
Hi,
Well that is good to know! Thank you!! Yes, I am using IE7!! The client has to use that too...However, I think Firefox is supported. I wonder if we can tell ADA people to use Firefox. Thanks again for your further research!!

Re: ADA issue - Having focus on topic when first launched
So basically, Flare does not offer that, and it would mean creating a manual fix. I had a feeling that was the case. I am not sure I want to start tinkering with code, plus my HTML skills are limited. Thank you for your suggestions.

Re: ADA issue - Having focus on topic when first launched
I know it is confusing. I had to read the client's comments over and over and over to see what they meant. Imagine launching a help system. A person who cannot use a mouse can only use the Tab key. So when you launch the help there is no focus on the screen. As soon as you click Tab, the focus goes ...

ADA issue - Having focus on topic when first launched
Hi,
Is there a way to have focus on a link or somewhere in a topic when a user launches a context-sensitive topic? An ADA person has to tab at least 10 times to get to the TOC. The first tab gives focus to the URL line.

Re: Webhelp does not launch in IE8
MY QA editor tried the other file too. She has also removed IE8 and replaced with IE7. I think something else is going on...I just can't pinpoint yet. I am going to have someone else launch the system and see if they have a problem. Thanks

Re: Webhelp does not launch in IE8
Yes, I can launch it on my system, IE7. Plus, it works for my programmers who have copied over the same files to their servers and run it from there. They are using IE7 as well.

Webhelp does not launch in IE8
I provided files to my QA editor to view my help system. She is running IE8. I used Flare 6.1 on an XP machine running IE7. After the active x security warning, she accepts, and then just a blank screen. See screen shot. ALso weird, she is clicking on the CMIPSIIPortal_CSH.htm topic to launch ...

How to convert regular hyperlink to reference in print?
Is there a way to have a hyperlink convert to a "Go to page" for the print document. I looked at cross-reference links, but that seems different. I just want my "regular" hyperlinks to automatically convert for print.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: How to add figure number to screenshot?
Hi Lisa,
I have neither. I am creating a printed User's Manual and the client wants all screen shots for the step-by-step procedures to have a figure number and description. Then all these have to be included in the table of contents. All I know how to do is insert an image in my help topic. And in ...

Writing Standards for links and screen elements
We are using the MicroSoft Manual of style, but it does not seem to account for many things in the interface that I have to document.
For example, if referencing a link, do you use the word link? (I know we don't use the word button). I have been using the word "link" to differentiate between ...

Creating a class from H1 style - can't delete autonumbering
When I add a class to H1 it will not allow me to delete the auto-numbering that is in the H1 style? For example, I have the H1 style with auto-numbering for my chapters. I wanted just a pure H1 style without, so I created a class. The style is called H1.regular. It takes on all the attributes ...

Thanks Lisa.
Well that is just a pain! How is one supposed to know that. Good thing I did not send it off to my reviewers. I hope the next version of Flare fixs that.

Images do not show in Word 2003/Vista.
I inserted images right into my topics. I am using XP and Word 2007. I save down to Word 2003 and work in compatibility mode. I moved my Word document to another computer to test it. When I open it up in Word 2003 (Vista) the images in the topics do not show. Why is that?

Structuring TOC for Webhelp using CSH topics
I am building a Context-sensitive help project. From past experience, I have always put those CSH "screen level" topics in the TOC. Otherwise, the user can never get to the topic unless they are in the application. Of course the TOC will also have task topics and other informational topics. My ...

Re: Formatting TOC for MicroSoft Word -User Manual
Good work around. This works for after the Title page, but not after my TOC. For some reason, the blank page after the TOC is taking on the header and footer of the page layout that is assigned to the TOC. (UserManual) I tried creating a blank page layout and applying that, but it does not pick it ...

I have spent weeks with Madcap technical support to set up my project /TOC to print properly in Word. It is still not the way it needs to be. Help! I just want the typical User Manual format. Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I did try Mytopic.htm too. I will have my developer try that on the server. Do you think it is an Apache thing?

CSH does not work using URL method
My application team wants to hook up the help using only the url method. (Don't get me started on why they won't use the JavaScript method!)
Firstly, they(the programmer) told me it should work locally. E.G. I should be able to type the url in and have the CSH topic pull up. I don't think you can ...
