Re: Error: Failed to Copy Temporary CHM File

Old post I know.

But I was just getting this same error message building a chm target.
I am building six separate chm targets, and was having trouble with just one of them for some reason.

Selecting Project > Clean Project seemed to have done the trick and the chm built successfully.

Re: Flare, Subversion and TortoiseSVN

I found this forum as we were seeing some unexpected results using a global/gpl project in SVN. Still need to find a fool proof method for this process, however.. We find that Flare gets confused with the sync status fairly regularly in general (not just if you perform operations outside of Flare us...

Re: 2017r2 - update or not?

Hi Paul, (and all), I am in a position to potentially upgrade to Flare 2017r2 now that some projects have been completed. What are the latest thoughts on this release? e.g. would this still stand: I've told all my clients to NOT upgrade to 2017 R2. I strongly recommend you don't either. There was a ...

Stray Arrow character (>) showing up after variables

Hi, Seems to be a Flare 12 thing (doesn't show up in backups prior to upgrade). However, I was wondering if anyone has seen this issue where the stray code > is showing up after some variables in webhelp and HTML5 outputs Seems random, and doesn't always happen for the same variable. Will probably l...

New Build window issue/query in V11

Hi, Not sure if it is a bug, or I am missing something, but I am getting a bit frustrated with the new build window and build changes in V11. It is working inconsistently for me when trying to build/publish a Webhelp output. First I do miss the popup window that used to display when you published an...

Support for Windows 10

Hi MadCap,

I am sure you have been testing on Windows 10 / Edge, but I was wondering what the official statement is with regards to Flare support?

We have been bitten in the past with updates to IE which have caused issues for customers with WebHelp versions of our help.

Thanks,

Re: Analyzer Seems To Be Buggy in Flare 10 / Analyzer 7

Deleting the \Outputs and \Analyzer folders was suggested to me by MadCap support also. I was also told that using your Flare projects over a network drive, rather than your local PC, can contribute to this sort of behaviour. That was the first I had heard of that, and is the way we are working for ...

Analyzer Seems To Be Buggy in Flare 10 / Analyzer 7

Hi all, Just wondering if it is just me or is anyone else finding Analyzer 7 to be buggy? We have noticed that Analyzer has been reporting false positives with regards to listing topics that are not in the TOC. The topics actually were in the TOC, but Analyzer was reporting that they weren't due to ...

Re: Flare Error: "The directory is not empty"

To follow up, copying the affected projects from the network drive to my PC has provided a work around that allowed me to compile.

Seems to be something to do with Flare not being about to process/delete the output folders before building.

Re: Flare Error: "The directory is not empty"

Just started getting this error today, only when trying to build chm targets and only for certain projects. I have tried restarting the PC to no effect. It also doesn't appear to be a permissions issue as I have been able to build some chm targets to the same (top level) folder. Also tried to build ...

Re: Viewing errors and the MadCapAll.js file

No problem, thanks for the response. I thought this might have been an issue to do with IE 11 (as I later found out that is what the customer is using), but we have tested the webhelp in IE 11 and it works fine. We are using Flare 9.1.2. Hoping it is some kind of one off problem and have also forwar...

Re: Viewing errors and the MadCapAll.js file

Hi devans, Did you get a response or find out what caused this issue? This post is a couple of years old, but I was wondering if there was any more information (perhaps from MadCap?) on what the potential casuses of this issue are. In particular: "Unable to get property 'getElementsByTagName': ...

However, I am still wondering if there are other ways the same thing could be achieved, such as incorporating RSS functionalit...

Flagging new content in webhelp/html 5.0 output

We are in the process of creating a knowledge base for our product. It is currently in webhelp output but will probably move to html 5.0 output in the future. I have been asked if there is some way in Flare we can flag new content so that end users know what has recently been added. I notice MadCap ...

Re: Favourites Missing From HTML 5.0 Output

Thanks for your comments Dave. You are probably right as to why the option was taken away. However, that assumes you will always be using the HTML 5.0 output in a standard browser. If you are loading the HTML 5.0 output into an embedded window in your app, or into a separate container exe as we do, ...

Anyone have any insight as to why the Favoutites accordion pane/tab has been dropped from the HTML 5.0 output? It is fairly standard browser behaviour to have a favourites functionality. While I didn't use it all of the time, there are certain parts of the help where I found it very useful and used ...
