I just went through this with Support. Turn off the Analyzer options in the File > Options dialog. Flare reads every configuration file with each keystroke and mouse click in the XML editor. OMG (and other explitives)! I was running 32 bit ghost script. It never crossed my mind. At this point, Flare 12/64 bit is running normally without compatibility tweaking after installing gs 64 bit. WOW. you were seriously on to something here. Using the 32bit gs with Flare 12/64 was causing massive slow downs. At least that's what I see from this point.
