The content explorer uses the sort method you have implemented in Windows explorer.
There have been a few cases where uses have experienced a different sort order than that used in Windows explorer, but this has often been related to sort order used on a networked location and considered a bug ...

Re: How to create / update skin?
1) you can create your own skin in Flare by choosing Project > Add Skin. It looks like it's just an xml file, so you could edit it outside of Flare in a text editor, but the interface is so much easier because a lot of the skin options are flare-specific and easier to see visually with the editor ...

How to create / update skin?
Few question regarding MadCap Flare 5 and skin usage...

Re: Is this a bug or a feature - AltGr+B?
They may not be aware that there is an AltGr key. It used to be that even on US keyboards the left and the right Alt key generated a different code, but due to cost savings I find more and more US keyboards that make both Alt keys send the same signal. Cheapo keyboards disable an entire layer and ...

Re: Conditional formating and CSS
I didn't mention the option Dave suggested because you said you didn't want to have to go from topic to topic to "paint" by hand. You'll still have to do that with generic classes, except you'd have to go into the topics to apply the classes. Plus, you'd have to later go back into the topics when ...

Is this a bug or a feature - AltGr+B?
I use Croatian keyboard layout (http://ascii-table.com/keyboard.php/234-1). To get { I have to press AltGr+B. This combination in Flare produces:
1) Paragraph properties - if I'm in topic
2) Nothing - if I'm in internal text editor editing CSS
Similar issue I have with AltGr+F (I get Find in files ...

Re: Conditional formating and CSS
If you just want to add a colour/style to the text, then you could set up some generic style classes; e.g. open your stylesheet in text mode and add:
.beta
{
color: #0000ff;
}
.internal
{
color: #ff0000;
}
The advantage of a using a generic class is that you can apply it to any tag (p, li ...

Re: Not a valid XML file? What?!?!
As far as I know it checks when a file is opened. So when you closed Flare with that topic open it will make a check when you open the project the next time. Could you determine why this happened or at least find out what is not the cause?

Re: Conditional formating and CSS
I assume you're talking about changing the color in the output, not signifying conditions in the authoring environment, which Flare can already do?
If it's the former, then no, there's no way to tie a style to a conditionalized tag so that it appears differently in the generated output.

Conditional formating and CSS
Can I somehow set properties for CSS so that all text that is marked (through conditional formatting) as "Internal" to be red, "beta version" to be blue, etc.? Must I go from topic to topic and "paint" text by hand? Sometimes text is within <p> other times it is within <li>. Can somehow "Internal ...

What version of Flare are you using? I can set the line-height to 1.5em. Even in Simple View (I'm normally in Advanced View) I can specify the unit of measure for the line-height.
You are using the unit of measure drop-down field to select the UOM, right?

Re: Set padding and spacing to 1.2 em?
If you want spacing between lines in the same paragraph, then adjust the line-height property of the paragraph tag or class. If you want spacing between paragraphs, set the margin-top and/or margin-bottom properties.

First, make a backup of your project.
Second, you can do find-and-replace in Flare, just make sure to select to search in source code. However, I'd try it in just one topic first to see if Flare accepts it. That might have been what RamonS was talking about earlier with Flare screwing up the PHP ...
