Re: Processing lag in 2017 r2 causing big trouble

Me too. Flare 11 used to run lovely, even when i got a new Windows 10 laptop (some massive issues with screen res aside). Now it has real trouble, to the point where i wait for 1-2 seconds for a keystroke to complete. sometimes it gets temporarily better, more often i need to kill Flare.exe. So, usi...

Cannot apply conditions in Capture 6 on Windows 10

Hi everyone, i came looking for something about this and didn't find it, so i am going to post a quick description of this bug in the hope that it helps someone. It's capture 6 and i'm not a frequent user, so it's not worth it for me to submit a bug; later versions and heavier users of Capture may s...

Re: Windows 10 window issues

yep, after searching the internet i discovered the issue is with windows getting to the HDPI party late and therefore windows only software like Flare has been caught napping. i wish i was aware of this _before_ i switched to this new machine. i mean the display is beautiful at the native resolution...

Re: Windows 10 window issues

i'm experiencing weirdness as well. windows 10 on a high spec lenovo laptop. the resolution is 3820 by 24?? but anyway much more than previous screen. other apps' UIs seem to be scaled to windows' new default 'text' scaling of 250% but flare icons and textboxes, form buttons etc all look a bit teeny...

Re: Print TOC not formatting headings as expected

when I came to set the autonumbering back to what it was I found that it is ignored for TOC styles anyway. I actually put in a bug report for this ages ago but had forgotten about it. I imagine this issue affects a fair number of people who have converted projects from FrameMaker because Frame does...

Flare giving (ul) list items the value attribute on build

This has little impact on the rendered page in the browsers i've seen it with, but i can't figure out _why_ Flare would do this. A similar topic i saw was https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17180 but that was about ordered lists, and recommended using a post-build javascript ...

Re: Unresolved cross reference in Word output

I'm having the same problem. My xref includes paratext and page number, and it points to a flare created bookmark, on a header within the same topic. the word output has a link on the page number (a pageref link to the bookmark that flare adds on that word 'heading') but it has no link on the parate...

window size persistence feature and SVN (or other)

Hi all, we don't often get file conflicts but we are working on each others' work more commonly now. we were sitting about, wondering about the Flare topic window size parameters eg <html xmlns:MadCap="http://www.madcapsoftware.com/Schemas/MadCap.xsd" xml:lang="en-us" MadCap:last...

Re: Flare 10 and Mercurial?

i don't see why not... i use SVN because that's what one dev group wanted. the other dev group use mercurial... i push output to mercurial for them. since most flare files are text, no dev source control package should have a problem with them. Not sure whether Flare has an integration with Mercuria...

Re: TOC as startup topic?

the meta refresh should work to direct user from default for any topic, not just loading the TOC. also, less work to put the refresh in the head of default after the build than to do the other hack (copying the contents of TOC 0 into default ul). you might even be able to put the refresh in before t...

Re: Data folder Search_Chunk file number and size

me too. i have not only got more and bigger search files, but the huge unexpected jump in size broke our build server and i'm embarassed :( i've got all the target's performance options the same as they were, although tweaking them i did manage to get the size down a bit, but not by the 16 MB or so ...

Re: Which source control system (I know, too general)

@trent, we are using tortoisesvn and flare just fine, as it sounds like you are. others see this as an issue but we are much happier with tortoise than with the flare svn integration. One thing i picked up on is that you use ssh... we are moving over to it but our svn admin is a linux geek and does ...

Re: TOC as startup topic?

it's pretty standard html practice, although sometimes security stuff doesn't like it, so i would say give it a try and see how you get on. i've not worked on mobile outputs in a while, but your devs should easily help you with the redirect

For blank pages there is page type "Empty" available. ... I want the company contact details etc to show in an enlarged footer, but only on the back page. It would be lovely if that were easy to set up! Sorry AJTurner, I failed to address your question in my reply. what you need to do is:...

Re: page layout: pages of same type, but different name?

i think i was misleading in my previous post, sorry :) i don't really want a blank/empty page - i want (and have) one of type normal, name 'blank', without the running headers and footers, but otherwise the same as our normal Normal. i know we can work around this limitation with extra page layout f...
