Re: How do I format without using an external stylesheet?

Thank you, Nick. I was closer to the answer than I thought. I will try that.

This is a very odd situation. The developers here seem to think that every help button should open hover text ... even if it's two pages worth of text. I've pushed back enough for an HTM file, but they haven't built ...

How do I format without using an external stylesheet?

Hi!

I have been searching this forum and there is a lot of discussion about local formatting versus stylesheet formatting. However, I'm trying to figure out how to format an HTM file that is standalone and therefore must contain all the formatting of the stylesheets without linking to them. All ...

Re: Creating output with inline styles (i.e., no stylesheet)

Thank you!

I read something similar in the online help for Flare. I think I'm not being specific enough because what the developers would like (if I can figure out a way to provide it) is to have no style sheet at all. In the output, there would not be the following entries:

"<link href="Resources ...

Creating output with inline styles (i.e., no stylesheet)

I am working on a project where the Help is embedded as a separate window. The process is that I generate WebHelp output and send the output files to the developers. They pull the HTML content from those files into a database. The "Help" window is then built by pulling the HTML out of the database ...

Re: .NET Framework Installation Error

Lisa,

Thank you so much. I had tried your option and it still didn't work because they want everyone to go through their portal. Our internal tech support created a portal for approved installations and .NET 3.51 was on it.

I made sure to document all of this for the rest of my team, so ...

Re: .NET Framework Installation Error

Thank you both.

I did find a Microsoft Visual Studio 8 folder in my Program Files folder; however, I can't find it running. I don't know what it would be called when it's running. (I'm looking on the Processes tab of Windows Task Manager.)

I zipped the Microsoft Visual Studio 8 folder, kept the ...

.NET Framework Installation Error

Hi!

I'm trying to upgrade to version 6.1, which requires me to upgrade Microsoft .NET Framework 3.51. I am having a terrible time installing .NET 3.51. The whole process hangs when trying to connect to the server to download the necessary files.

When I click the Readme link on the Setup Error ...

Links in Word output

I have a lot of cross-references and hyperlinks in my help project. When I output to Word, the hyperlinks show up as links, but the cross-references do not.

Is this correct functionality?

I would love to have both the hyperlinks and the cross-references come through AND the hyperlinked files ...

Re: Breadcrumbs as links

^^ The path shows up (including the parent book), it's just that none of the entries are hyperlinked.
I narrowed this down to something. Word created its own topic master file on import. As the breadcrumb proxy is in the topic master, that would be the problem.

The links are working; it's just ...

Re: Breadcrumbs as links

I just imported a Word document. I left the HTM files in a separate folder because it's easier to manage the content. However, now I've noticed that the breadcrumb trail is not working.
The path is Contents/Imported File Name/...htm

I copied and pasted the TOC that was created by the import into ...

Heading row repeat when the user prints the WebHelp output

My online help system has many table; some of them very long. I was wondering if there was a way to make the heading rows repeat when the user prints the topic. A print medium style perhaps?

When importing Word doc, some bookmarks don't import

When I import my Word document, some of the bookmarks are there and some aren't.
I'm talking about bookmarks that get added to headings in Word when you hyperlink to that heading. Some of them are coming in.

When I check the hyperlinks in the Internal Text Editor, the hyperlink is calling the ...

Re: Flare styles not showing up to map to

Thank you to wclass and Heike K!
Opening up the Import file in the text editor was brilliant idea. Funny thing is, after I did that, and went back to the Paragraph styles, all the Flare styles magically appeared. I wish to God I could tell you why that is. However, the table styles still weren't ...

Searching by table

I would just like to preface this post by saying I did look in the Flare help and this forum and I can't find the answer. *sigh*

How can you search by table? I "messed up" the table styles in my project and would like to clean it up by fixing the table properties of each table. It's tedious, but I ...

I had actually found this error in Windows Explorer and has a second stylesheet under Resources/Stylesheets.

Two style sheets, same name ??

Hi Everyone,

I just noticed that there are two stylesheets in the Project Properties > Default tab > Master Stylesheet dropdown list with the same name. When I click Edit to open them, the stylesheet opens - I can't tell from eyeballing if they're different or not.

There is only one stylesheet ...

Re: Flare styles not showing up to map to

Margeret,

Thank you. I think the reason I'm confused is

1) On the Stylesheet tab, I did select Don't Preserve MS Word Styles. (The Convert inline formatting to CSS styles option is checked and grayed out. Could that have something to do with it?) And I did specify the stylesheet as the one already ...

All,

I'm importing a Word document into an existing project. What's happening is that Flare is picking up and letting me map to the Heading styles but nothing else.

Popups when opening WebHelp from an internal server

To facilitate early reviews, I am putting the WebHelp system on an internal server so that our user-acceptance testers can see it before we put it in our product.

Users can open the main page in IE (our only supported browser) and click through the system. However, they have to click Yes on at ...

Re: Resizing Wide Graphics For Print/Online

What you might want to do instead is

a) include an actual sample Excel file instead of an image - your support personnel and customers could then open the report by clicking on the link to it from the topic
b) in print output, replace the link with a print-only blurb that refers users to the ...

However, the problem is that whenever I set the visited tag to anything but the standard link color, that different color shows up as the link color in the output - before it's been clicked.
